Hi all!

Long time no post. Like literally, I can't remember when I last posted on LJ but I do still check it every day since I mod more than one community, including this one.

I wanted to make a quick post to let you all know since the image host TINYPIC is shutting down, the main layout for merlinxarthur is going to be messy. All the tiny images, as well as the headers and backgrounds I used for this layout, were all hosted on TinyPic. Photobucket is no longer free so while I look for an alternate website to host these images, it's going to look icky for awhile if you are looking at the main page. Also, since I really don't have the time at the moment to look for an alternate free image hosting site AND re-upload all the images on there AND find all the links in the html coding for the layout to replace them, I am not sure when I will be able to tweak it so it'll look nice again.

I apologize in advance! But if anyone has any ideas where I can host these images for free, let me know. Hopefully I find time to fix this. Thanks!

WELP. so i just realized there were a bunch of posts submitted for approval in the queue from as far as like a week ago and i never noticed. i rely on LJ giving me email notifications for when posts need to be approved. i never manually check the moderation queue. and for some reason LJ stopped giving them to me? i don't know if it's a glitch, etc., but i never got any email notifs telling me i had posts to approve so i APOLOGIZE PROFUSELY! i wasn't ignoring anybody, i promise! i just checked the queue now (thanks to texasfandoodler for bringing it to my attention!) and i approved all the ones in the queue. (so sorry for the mini spam on your friends list)

but yes, hopefully it's just an LJ glitch and they'll start giving me the email notifications again. or maybe it's because the community doesn't have a paid account anymore so i don't get the emails? i'm not sure, LJ changes their rules and limits a lot. otherwise i'll have to manually check the moderation queue daily and since i barely do that in the first place, it might take awhile to get in the habit of doing so (but i will!)

additionally, some members have unmoderated posting, which means they can post without moderator approval. these permissions were given before my time as a mod so i haven't questioned them. so if you see other members posting and your entry hasn't shown up for awhile, that's probably why (also probably because i'm not home yet so i haven't gotten on my computer to approve said entry :P).

if this becomes a hassle in the future (which i hope it won't, LJ pls), i'll talk to 1miracle and see if we can try taking the community off moderated posting for a bit. hopefully a lot of the frequent posters would know the posting rules and all possible new ones would read them carefully before posting. though moderated posting makes for such a cleaner, prettier, and more organized community flow. :')))

anyway, sorry again! please don't hesitate to visit the ASK THE MODS post whenever you have a question or a problem and i'll answer them as best as i can, thank you!

just a few little reminders: please read the slightly revised TAGGING RULES on how to tag if you haven't already. for some who may still be adding a "spoilers" tag to their entries, that's not strictly necessary at this point because the show has been over for almost a year and a half so you don't have to worry about that part. :) and to remember to put the adult content setting of your entry to "explicit" if it's an nc-17 rating.

Contributor Tags!

Old version for reference.

This is where you can request a contributor tag once you have made at least 5 posts on the community.

A Basic account on LJ only gets a 1,000 tag limit. Early Adopter and Plus Accounts can have at most 1,200 different tags. Paid and Permanent Accounts can have at most 4,000 different tags.

merlinxarthur currently has over 1,000 tags with a Plus Account. So we might hit our limit in the future.

Please comment on here with the links to all the 5 entries you have made when you request for a contributor's tag.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding this matter, please leave them as a comment to this post or our Ask the Mods post. Thanks, guys!

Hey guys!

So with the new year (er 3 months ago), I thought I'd finally change the layout. It's simple but easily navigated (I hope!) I hope you like it and it works for you! Layout is by mentahelada (this one specifically).

ALSO, thanks to the super amazing and talented Carola over at tumblr for the GORGEOUS GORGEOUS HEADER. I had asked her for a favor some time ago (because you really don't need to stare at the eyesore of a header I made over a year ago any longer, I apologize ha) to make this for me and she COMPLETELY WENT ABOVE AND BEYOND. IT'S SOOOOOO BEAUTIFUL. Please leave her some LOVE IN HER ASKBOX about how completely amazing it is! Also, check out her tumblr. One of the best tumblrs for Merlin, imo. :)

There are also going to be a handful of new posts in the next few days from me. Nothing too new or big, just updating some old moderating entries so it's easier for me (and for you guys) to access, and for me to easily reply to any inquiries, etc.

Hey all!

As most of you who post on here know, our community is set to moderated posting. Which means I and 1miracle have to approve the posts beforehand. We do this so we can filter out spambots/spam in general, posts with huge graphics or pictures that might break your friends list, and other general posts that break the rules. Hopefully this all provides you guys with a cleaner perusal of the community!

The tags are also all there so it's easier for you to find things. With that being said, I've had to reject several posts in the past weeks with people creating new tags. So just a reminder to please not create new tags on your posts. Only a moderator/maintainer can create new tags. Also, if a mod approved your post, those new tags wouldn't show up anyway, but we still see them before we approve posts and we end up having to reject them because of the tagging. Tags like "pining!Arthur, bamf!Merlin, OMG MERTHUR 5EVER" (basically all tags that would be more suited for tumblr or your own personal LJ) are not allowed on this community.

Please just use the existing tags, all of which you can find HERE. When you make a new post, it might be easier to hit the "select" option right next to the tag box so you are provided with all the existing tags you can use. You can also type in any of the existing tags by hand but if you make one typo or mistake, it won't show up on your post. If you feel like your post doesn't fall into any of the categories the tags provide, you can go to the ASK THE MODS post and make a comment, or message either me or 1miracle and we can talk about maybe adding any new tags!
