it's come to the point that i feel the need to make my journal (semi) friends only. i hate this because i'm usually a very open person. however, there have been some recent things making it apparent i really need to do something to protect myself. this might only be a temporary measure, but i am going to do this.
if you want to be a new friend and added to my list, please let me know in a screened comment below. if you only preview my journal for fiction, i will continue to post any stories i might write publically.
The internet can be a powerful tool. Information can be sent out to friends and friends of friends, making any company or corporation or situation known to a great number of people. I'm invoking this tool and raising a voice.
My friend Rachel was seriously injured by a co-worker in 2004. This injury has permanently disabled her, making it impossible for her to work, sit, stand or walk for more than a few minutes at a time. This happened just over 5 years ago, when Rachel was 24. She's a fun, wonderful woman, a fantastic friend. Some of you might know her or at least have seen her, since she is part of the crew organizing Yaoi Con. Monday, Rachel experienced intolerable service from the moment she walked into the airport terminal, until she left the Untied customer service counter. Here is Rachel's story.
Pass the word. Let people know what United Airline thinks of those who spend money to receive terrible service, and how we as consumers will not stand for this type of behavior.
for about a year now, i've been reading m/m original stories on ebook quite a bit. it seems to me that a lot of writers have some very interesting ideas about body height and weight. it is not uncommon for one man (or more) in the story to be considered 'small' at 5'8" or even 5'10"... ??? if the average height of the american male is 5'9", how does that make the man small? he might be shorter than his counterpart (which for some reason HAS TO BE 6'5" or so), but that does not make the man small.
by this same token, i've read a lot where a man at 5'10" is 'skinny' weighing 180 pounds. even if the guy had a large frame, that's still average weight.
size and weight isn't the make or break a story, but i'm telling you, it would sure help if some authors would do a little research when they make blanket statements.
in my relationship experience, i've dated men who were as short as 5'4" (and 112 pounds, way underweight), to 6'6" and 300 pounds. there were several in various sizes in between. average size being 5'8" and average weight.
Title: He Ain't Heavy, Pairings: Duo, Quatre (friendship), Warnings: AU, mild language Notes: This was a WIP languishing on the harddrive for a bit, but since it fit the this week's theme so well, i thought i'd finish it up. it is part of the From Boys to Soldiers to Men arc. find previous parts here in my memories, or on my fiction page on Jana's site. **this story belongs in the "from boys" section.**
Title: All These Things, Pairing: Heero/Duo, Warnings: AU, BL, language, angst, sap, Note: This story was written for sharona1x2's birthday (2/28/09). Sharon my bestest buddy, and one I would gladly share a blanket fort with to keep safe from the molten lava. I love you ♥. I also need to thank the most gracious lilzazu for her wonderful beta. (I still have a huge issue with commas!) *hugs* thank you so much for smacking me around.
As an after note: A couple of years ago, a young lady (jade_sage) gave me a song and mentioned it would make a most excellent story involving Heero and Duo (of course). That song, Of Montreal's 'Tim, I wish you were born a girl'. I attempted to stay true to the song and it was close enough for my daughter to recognize where parts of the inspiration came from.
so, zazu mentioned something about 121 days of writing (or maybe it was fics?) anyway... i think i want to attempt to write 121 fic(lets) this year. and, i really would like to write something each day until finished. *sigh* it might not happen, given this conversion is pretty hectic and has been keeping me very busy (or brain-dead). but, i am going to try!
okay, here's the first, and i apologize for it's rather cliched approach. but, i think this set will be a series of fic(lets) to continue in the same universe as 25 5 sentence fics for february 08. and yes, that's heero and duo as cops, heero working in homicide and duo working in cold cases.
title: new years, pairing: heero/duo, warning: sappy, cliched
