London photos
Aug. 27th, 2012 06:48 pmPICTURE POST. This post includes: random things around London, cool objects/items. It does not include pictures of food or the massive collection of interesting (to me) writings and posters I saw around London, because one has to pace oneself and there are a shit ton of photos already.
Also they are all huge and were taken by my iphone. So, fair warning. Also some of them are NSFW.

The room
cesy had me stay in. OH MY GOD. SERIOUSLY. She put a CHOCOLATE ON A STACK OF TOWELS FOR ME, OK. It was ridic.

...AND THEN THE INDOCTRINATION BEGAN.

I don't know what it was with cosplaying that week, but this is a Mario Brother talking to an obscured Bugs Bunny near Clapham Junction, and later the Mario Brothers followed me to Cambridge.

Some of the paintings by the hostess of the BBQ
cosmicyoruba took me to, in her garden.

PROOF I WAS IN ENGLAND, basically. Oddly enough two faucets didn't weird me out at all. I guess I got all my being weirded out by that thing out of me when I was 15 and first encountered it.

KENSINGTON GARDENS with
xenakis

Always wanted to be a Lord of the Rings villain? WELL NOW YOU CAN.

Cool store entrance/counter.

BUBBLE TEA IMPORIUM

UNION JACK PIG IN A CAGE. I don't even know.

My macha bubble tea next to someone's touching garden statue.

Trash day in Notting Hill, ladies and gents.

Creepy big brother Olympic mascot is watching you.
And now, the Tate Modern!

Always appreciate a nice naked ass.

I texted J and told her this reminded me of Dune for some reason and she totally didn't get it :/

I really love this. Brush strokes.

Flags from around Tehran, soaked in the air pollution (Tehran has one of the highest rates of pollution in the world). Exhibit by an Iranian artist.

I'll just let this speak for itself.

Giant hanging penis.

Dali! I was ridiculously excited to see a painting by him for some reason.

xenakis claimed this statue was designed to look as close to feces as possible. I couldn't unsee it.

From the gift shop. I would actually buy this if it came as something otehr than a giant print.

Oh, museum books.

TREES OF MY CHILDHOOD!

View of the Thames from the pub we had lunch at. It was... a lovely idea in theory, in practice drove home how... not picturesque the river actually is :/

Street performers!
Awesome stuff at
such_heights and
purplefringe's apartment:

The London Eye with
xenakis:

Hampton Court, with bonus random water sprouting things:

London is very fond of unicorns.

At Forbidden Planet, London's Geek Store, a Batman crouches.

I'd purchase one of these postcards, but honestly would have no use for it. I am uninterested in any new hobbies that don't include penises

GHOSTBUSTERS! I'll never call that green thing anything other than Лизун, since that was his Russian name.

Legit my favorite Avengers poster. Looks like a much darker and more fucked up movie than it actually is.

From the Victoria and Albert Design Museum, I finally know where the makers of Children of Dune got their costume inspiration.

Awesome swively sort of chairs.

On the way to Cambridge to see
raven!

Followed by the Mario Brothers.

Boats!

Queen's College, I think.

This dude, hanging in a corner.

A shot of
cesy's apartment that I feel summarizes my entire fannish existence.

A cute street performer guy doing an act at Covert Garden.

MORE CREEPY BIG BROTHER OLYMPIC DUDE.

Man, this is where shit gets hardcore. I thought those spikes on the video camera were like to ward off tampering or something (possibly all on the orders of creepy one eyed big brother dude), but no it turns out they're for warding off... pigeons.

MUMMIFIED CATS at the British Museum.

Non-mummified duckies.

Plastic boxes of milk (already exotic to an Israeli such as myself - our milk comes in plastic bags or cardboard boxes) including the REALLY TINY one pint of milk boxes.

Upcoming thunderstorm at Hyde Park.

The window of the train as I was coming back to
cesy's. Wearing sneakers, a coat with no hood and lacking an umbrella. Yeah.

Victoria Palace Theater, where I saw Billy Elliot.

Inside the theater (I was sitting REALLY high up)

Parting shots of
cesy's apartment. Waking up in that place every morning was like waking up in a magical candy store of all the books you'd ever want to read.

Also, CATS :D

Aaaand one last random cosplayer who was waiting for me at Luton. (OK, advertising bear thingy, whatever.)

That first Cambridge picture of the Mathematical bridge always makes me giggle because it's such a typical tourist one. That bit of pavement was always blocked because there were so many tourists trying to take photos at once, and my friend Poppy used to walk across the bridge in her gown deliberately so they'd include her in photos.
Wow, I hadn't even realised your milk was that different. Ours used to come in glass bottles from a milkman, too, though that's rarer these days.
