Megan Derr

The link is to her homepage, which has most her fiction, but she also has a live journal (link on her site) which has a few more stories. She tends to write fantasy/sci-fi slash stories, though there are other genres thrown in. She's one of the few writers that I actually like everything she writes. Oh, there are stories I like more and less of course, but there's nothing of hers I actively dislike. RARE!

Anyways, you should give her a whirl!

Supernatural

Me getting into Supernatural Slash was very insidious. I had no interest in it at first, incest not being my cup of tea. I had nothing really against it, but I also didn't want to read it. As I looked over recs however, I kept noticing certain ones being rec'd over and over again and I have a policy to read stories that I see rec'd often, regardless of the pairing etc. If that many people like it, it has to be worth a read. And I found some wonderful wincest stories. Alright I thought, fine. I can deal with some incest, as long as there's no sex. Then it moved on to no graphic sex. And finally, I'm at as long as the story's good, it can have whatever hi-jinks it damn well wants.

So here goes nothing ^.^

Probably the first wincest story I ever read. Which will hint to you that it's very pre-slash ^.~  It has a wonderful melancholy feeling to it. Somehow it always gives me a content feeling.

I like how this authors story telling flows. I also adore how Sam and Dean feel so natural with each other.

Smallville

Just watched the movie Stand By Me. It's been years since I'd watched it, but it certainly hasn't lost it's melancholy charm. If you haven't seen it you should. It's a wonderful coming of age story of four boys.

Anyways, going to do some Smallville recs. It's been raining all day so since I had so much extra time I figured why not more recs!

It's a little hard to garner a plot from the summary, but it's about Clark starting college and his (pre-existing) relationship with Lex. Like all of Punks' stories, it's brilliant. It's a delightful little romp that'll alsways make me feel good.

Supernatural - Themed Rec

Heya!

So it's a fine Sunday morning. Though it's probably only fine to me because I normally would have been at work by now. After over a year of opening at my restaurant on Sundays, I finally went and asked not to. (Just think of one of the most miserable shifts at your job and that's the Sunday morning shift!) So now I don't have to go in till 12! And that's two whole hours I don't know what to do with. So I figured I'd do some Supernatural themed recs! 

I haven't been keeping up with the show because it's become so soap opera-ish that I think I have to have a conclusion in order to watch the preceding melodrama. Anyways, this themed rec centers on Sam's broken wrist ^^.

And as always, with themed recs, because they have to follow a certain plot line, the writing itself is not always of the highest quality. I found that even though I myself chose to do this theme, these stories weren't my kind of thing, so I take no responsibility hehehe.

Stargate SG-1

So as I browsed through other peoples recs on livejournal I found it made me twitch when they have 6 recs of different fandoms in one post. Mostly because it makes it harder to browse. So in order to not be what annoys myself (good policy right?) I've decided to try and stick to one fandom per post. And the lucky fandom this time? Stargate SG-1!!! Woot!

Truthfully, I never got into this fandom until recently. I had seen the show and enjoyed watching it when it happened to be on, though I didn't really make an effort to view it. I read a few fanfictions, but most tended to be exceedingly melodramatic, especially ones that concentrated on Daniel, of whom I liked the most. And for some strange reason, I just couldn't get into Jack/Daniel, though normally I love slash.

Than one day (oh, about 4 years after the end of the 10 seasons O.O) I read a Jack/Daniel on a whim, and found myself really enjoying it, to my immense surprise. So I pursued and wonderfully found a few other fics that I loved, both slash and gen. It's still really hard to find good, quality Stargate SG-1 fics (which tends to happen with older fandoms; not as many people online and writing. Nowadays there's a plethora of good fanfiction for fandoms) but now it's at least worth looking.

Anyways, done with my looooong introduction, here are the fics!

Ghost in the Machine

Pairing: None (though it seems to hint at Jack/Sam. Gasp! I don't really like Jack/Sam so it must be a good fic)
Summary: Hm. Sort of alien-ish and sort of cyberpunk-ish. SG-1 struggles within a hostile environment and tries to find their way home.

Quality story. This is a great team fic. It could in fact be an episode, except I like it even more, because they are on the affectionate side with each other. Pretty much, most my searches in Stargate SG-1 fiction revolves around finding stories like this one.

I had to read this just for the meeting up of one Daniel Jackson and Ronon Dex. I mean, how many stories have those two thrown together? And I actually ended up liking it =^.^=

Poor Jack is stuck very close to a wiggling Daniel. Not a deep or meaningful fic, but enjoyable and fun team interaction. (which is what SG-1 is all about = teaminess!)

Quality fic. Jack knows Daniel so well. This makes for a great fic!

Stargate Atlantis

Ah, I'm freezing. I really quite like winter, but it makes it so impossibly hard to get out of bed in the morning. It's just so warm in my nice comfy bed! If I actually woke up early enough maybe I should start turning on my space heater ^^. That'll solve it! *drool*

My coolest of cool friend Christy bought my an outfit on Last Chaos, an free MMORPG that we play. It's this really cute little Japanese kimono that's short and very pretty. Now I just need to get my rogue high enough to actually wear it! If you like games like Everquest or WoW but don't want to play money, you should try Last Choas.  Not as good as those you pay for, but still good.

Anyways, Stargate Atlantis recs. i think I'll do HP next!

Sentient Atlantis - SGA theme rec

I felt like doing a theme rec today, which is rather hard because I tend to sort my stories by genre. As well, it's hard to find many stories of one theme that are well written. But I felt like doing one so there. Some of these may not be a favourite of mine, but they're still good.

There are different levels that Atlantis can be considered sentient. Some of these are a little harder to define in that category.
