Andy screams

FIC

Summary: Roger tries to have a family picnic in Richmond Park but all does not go to plan. Inspired by a video of Roger feeding wild dolphins in Australia. He seemed terrified they were going to bite his hand off XD

Now rewritten to appeal more equally to both Roger and Andy fans! (though I'm sad that Andy is not playing this year D:) If you like it, please feel free to comment :)

Anglo-Saxon hoard: 1,500 gold and silver pieces!

This is headline news in the UK at the moment. So exciting! As this article explains, the huge hoard was found by a metal detectorist in Staffordshire and is bigger than the Sutton Hoo discovery. The collection is currently being kept in secure storage at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery but a selection of the items are to be displayed at the museum from Friday until 13 October.

Two heartening news stories...

...both featuring a nice person doing something positive and helpful.

Tortoise survives life at speed: In this one a man saves a tortoise from the motorway. I especially like this bit: He then stopped off at a supermarket to buy it some tomatoes and lettuce before dropping it into Grove Lodge Veterinary Hospital in Worthing on Wednesday afternoon.

Meeting India's tree planting guru: A man helps people and the environment at the same time.

How Cadbury's make Easter Eggs (40 million every year!)

"Easter is one of the most popular times of year for chocolate-makers and it has been revealed that despite the current economic downturn, confectionery sales in 2009 have continued to rise, with predictions of record sales this Easter.

"Tony Bilsborough shows the BBC how they make the eggs at the Cadbury's factory in Bournville, Birmingham."

The intelligence of mules

It's a pity Stephen Fry made this comment about mules on Twitter today, especially after one had been obliging enough to carry him around.

Shame about the personality tho. Asininity and stubborness of their donkey genes mixed with the stupidity and angst of the equine. - Stephen Fry

When I saw the picture he posted of himself on the mule, I thought, "What a lovely mule!" and "Stephen looks a bit heavy for it!"

His comment reflects badly on him rather than mules, horses and donkeys. In fact mules have been found to be more intelligent than horses and donkeys.

Grumpy mules "highly intelligent"

Also, "equine" includes donkeys (Equus asinus).
