Even though there is no specific air date yet announced, season 3 will start in the UK in September. So, I think it's time to get a little more excitement going!

To start, let's start rewatching the first two seasons again. There's about ten weeks between now and September, so perhaps two episodes a week?

We can have some discussions, polls etc surrounding each eppy. And perhaps it might inspire you to post some new fanfics, icons, picspams etc. :)

Let's start at the very beginning, Mr Bates arriving on a train! I'll put up a discussion post for it soon.

Just a quick moddy post to say thank you to akachankami for doing up a lovely new header for the comm.

Our two favourite couples are still taking centre stage, and the new colours have really freshened the place up!!! LOL

I'll post a new challenge soon, but don't forget (if you feel inspired) about the Cooking Lessons challenge too.

I spent the better part of yesterday tagging all the entries for the comm so that we can find all the goodies much faster.

I've created tags for all the characters downstairs and have made a general one for when an upstairs character/s make a guest appearance. After quite a bit of debate, I've included Dr Clarkson. Poor man doesn't seem to belong anywhere!

I've also included tags for authors and vidders/fanart creators. (augrah, slow down hon.)

The tags weren't showing on our layout, but I have managed to get them to appear at the bottom of the page. If anyone out there is an expert at code, can you pm me please so we can get the tags showing nicely down the side of the page.

Series 2:

It has just been announced that season 2 will begin in the States on January 8th. We'll be hosting discussion posts to coincide with the airing of the eppies, so get ready to squee again (for most of us this will be rewatch) about our fav plot lines and characters.

Christmas special:

I was going to post a discussion on the Christmas special specifically this week, but will now leave it until the end of our season 2 watch/rewatch.

New challenge:

The first challenge for the new year will be posted this Sunday, so don't forget to look out for it. I can't wait to see what fics/art/icons people come up with.

Hey everyone!

First, apologies for being an absent mod lately. I've been on rl holidays with no internet access. It was lovely to return to so many posts though, and I'm looking forward to catching up.

I was hoping to post a Christmas challenge before I went away, but luckily batwings79 swooped in and saved me with her fantastic Mistletoe challenge. That challenge is now finished, so make sure you go and read the goodies and leave a review here and here.

We don't pay anyone around here, so I really encourage as many people as possible to leave reviews on all posts (including vids, icons etc). Reviews also give you a chance to interact with other fans of the show. I know a lot of people find leaving reviews intimidating, but, trust me, reviews are very inspiring things! We don't want to lose any of our writers/graphics people to another fandom (or heavens forbid, to one of the upstairs pairings, LOL)!

The Christmas/New Year period is notoriously quiet on LJ, but hopefully our fandom will still be very active due to the Christmas special. Looking forward to it! (And if Charles and Elsie don't get to dance you'll see Angry!Aussie.)

I will be posting more regular challenges in 2012, so keep an eye out and if you have any brill ideas, feel free to pm them to me.

I'd like to also take this quick opportunity to thank escapedvelocity and all the other Anna/Bates shippers for allowing the Carson/Hughes shippers onto the comm. I really think this is the best DA comm around (not that I'm biased or anything). I'm really proud of the way that the fans of the two ships have managed to remain respectful of each others' favoured pairing.

Sorry to you all for my absence around the place recently,life has just got a way of making me incredibly busy. I have no time to eat, let alone write. And I go to England on Tuesday, so things won't improve for another week at least. *sighs*

Thank you bsg_aussiegirl for covering my total lack of brain this morning and posting sunday funday post! I shall try my best to write something and participate at some point over the next week.

I hope all those watching Downton Abbey as it airs are surviving and those who aren't well, I hope you are enjoying yourselves here. :)

As you can probably tell by the picture Team: Carson/Huges have won the BATTLESHIPS challenge. Lets’ give them a huge round of applause Team:Bates/Anna. And I applaud both teams for your participation. I have been bowled over by how much work you all put into this.

The final scores are:

1st place: Carson/Hughes 100

Second Place: Bates/Anna 86

Tomorrows Sunday Funday will be devoted to Carson and Hughes and I do expect Team: Anna/Bates to at least try to take part if you have the time, even if it’s just a comment to something posted. Next week, [Unknown LJ tag] and I shall try and think up something different.

I just wanted to post a quick thank you to all of you who have taken part in the Sunday Funday since it kicked off, and especially since the prompt weekends. Their has been some fantastic fic, hilarious twitter conversations and just a lot of fun. Also thanks to bsg_aussiegirl for taking over from me for a couple of weeks! (Carson gives you a hug)

It's come to my attention that we pretty much have a group of Carson/Hughes shippers and Anna/Bates shippers, (yes I know some of you multi-ship but I'm gonna make you choose) I thought for Episode five- (four goes out this Sunday) we might play a little team game/games. It won't be fic based, well not entirely, so everyone can join in again. Once I have figured out the logistics of it, I will give you all a good few days notice if not longer.

Would that be something you'd be interested in?



If I have enough interest we will talk teams later in the week.

The wait is almost over! As I am sure you all know, Downton Abbey will return to UK screens on the 18th of September
Just a few points to bear in mind as Downton doesn’t premiere in each country at the same time.

• Please place anything series 2 related under an LJ Cut. Whether that be icons, screencaps, videos or just general discussion.

• If you post fanfiction set in series 2- it should be clearly labelled as such and up to which episode it is set in. (Example: Spoilers: S2 /EP03)



I was wondering if anybody was interested in having a post episode discussion? (Strictly for our below stairs characters/ships) I was also thinking of maybe setting up a sort of Sunday fun-day post, in which you can post pictures, silly fic, fanart or whatever you like in the comments as long as it has nothing to do with Series 2, that way everyone can join in. Thoughts?

Hello everyone. Due to the growing love of other ships "below stairs" at Downton Abbey, this will now be a multi-shipping community. (Ie: Anna/Bates, Carson/Hughes, William/Daisy) As long as they are staff. Rather than starting up multiple communities I was approached by various people to just have the one place to go. I am hoping you will all stay around, and continue to enjoy the comm, I dare say Bates/Anna will be a very prominent ship around here still!
