(I haven't watched yet but I hear #1, #3 and #8 are all doozies!)

Netflix is rescuing Longmire.

The Western crime thriller was cancelled by A&E this year after three seasons, prompting an outcry from fans, but the streaming service has ordered a fourth season of 10 new episodes to be available sometime next year. The series averaged more than 3 million viewers, and was one of A&E's top shows, but its cost -- and declining ratings for Duck Dynasty and other series -- were a factor in its demise.

The series, based on the novels by Craig Johnson, stars Robert Taylor as Walt Longmire, a Wyoming sheriff, and also features Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica) and Lou Diamond Phillips (La Bamba).

Here's Netflix's description of what's to come, as the show resolves the cliffhanger that ended its cable run:

"Season four of Longmire picks up moments after season three's exciting finale. Walt Longmire, having found out who was behind the murder of his wife, succumbs to his darker impulses and takes off in pursuit of the killer with murder on his mind. Meanwhile, Branch Connally (Bailey Chase), the deputy who Walt fired for erratic, violent behavior, believes he has already figured out who the real culprit is. But during his confrontation with this suspected killer, a gun goes off. Now the audience will finally learn what happened, and whether Walt can be stopped before he makes a fatal choice."

It seems even the actors are working to save Longmire.  I'm not really up on the latest, maybe someone else can chime in, but I thought I'd share these few things I've come across.

This kind of fell together very quickly because the song re-acquainted itself with me at the right time (and it's so perfect!) and it was fresh in my memory where I could find all the clips.
I'm pretty pleased with this so I'm sticking my neck out again!

Deadline (which we can't link to or C&P from) has a story today about WB's pitch of Longmire and who might be on the receiving end: Netflix, Amazon. Not Hulu. Not TNT.

It's a good article and it will probbaly get another kazillion comments on it  (there's already 650), so feel free to go to their site and check it out (it's still in the top news banner or you could search for Longmire).

(It's interesting that a lot of commenters are not happy about it going to Netflix or Amazon because they don't want to pay for a streaming service that they currently don't use.) 

"A&E has canceled Longmire after three seasons, EW has confirmed.

\The modern western starred Robert Taylor as the unflappable and recently widowed sheriff of Absaroka County, Wyoming. The third season capped off with 3.7 million viewers and 0.6 in the 18-49 demographic, down from its season 2 finale.

“We would like to thank the phenomenal cast, crew and producers of Longmire, along with our partners at Warner Horizon, for their tireless work on three seasons of quality dramatic storytelling,” the network said in a statement. “We are incredibly proud of what we have achieved together.”

According to a source, producer Warner Horizon plans to shop Longmire elsewhere."

Not entirely surprising given the shrinking demo numbers. Would be interesting to see who would pick it up. I think CBS is the best fit and could see it as a good summer show for them. Or maybe Netflix/Yahoo/Amazon....

The other day I uploaded my old fanvid made right after S1 (claimed and deleted by the network when it was on YouTube) onto Vimeo.  I loved this vid - everyone was in it!  You can see it here:

I was so bummed, I didn't vid for months, but it's an addiction and I can't stop, so I have a new channel on YouTube.  I just uploaded a new Longmire vid there.  Its focus is Walt and Vic and it's kind of a soppy song, but I thought it worked for them for the most part. I realized as I was making it just how strong a character Vic was.
