Life on Mars, USA.

Would anyone be willing to beta read a short fic for me? It features Colonel Norris and Major Tom, set before the mission to Mars. Thanks in advance!

This episode is my favorite and it always makes me cry. Sam Tyler, the modern day man stuck in the 70s, where he now works as a cop, meets his father. They are the same age. Sam was affected greatly by the disappearance of his father when he was small--this very same year they are now in the past.

Now he sees his father might be involved in something crooked. And yet the man convinces him he's not, and Sam trusts him.

Bonding, extreme angst, and a story I just can't resist follows.

It blends in with the rest of the show, sometimes confusing to a new viewer. But I highly recommend the episode if you like angst, whump, or family stuff.

I should warn you this will give away the broad line of the plot. It's also pretty highly angsty.

I wish more people would get involved in this show, and so I'm posting about my favorite episode. I love lots of the episodes, though. And some of them have a better ending than this. :)

Also, I love Gene Hunt as played by Harvey Keitel. He's barely in this episode, but it's still quite good. :)

I can't upload pics from my computer anymore. I got to use the library computer for 1 hour today. I uploaded some pictures from my favorite episode of ABC's Life on Mars (the American version). I was rushed and the explanations aren't as good as I'd like. Maybe I can tweak them at some point. :)

I made this account specially so I could upload pics there, but I might decide to use it for my Professionals fics and fandom at some point. :)

Gene sat down with a groan of his tired bones, on the chair beside Sam Tyler’s bed.  He glanced across at the gunshot detective.  “Well, Tyler.  Looks like you got yourself in another mess.  I told you not to trust that guy, didn’t I?”  He shook his head, and sighed.  “Don’t call for backup.  Don’t believe the lieutenant.  I was like you once.  Just make sure you live long enough to be like me, kid.”

He shook out the newspaper.  “Now let’s see what’s in here today.  Cartoons.  You like the funny papers, Sam?”  He glanced at the unconscious man’s pale face, then back at the paper.  “Nah.  You’re more a news and book reviews guy, aren’t you?”

He hummed a little to himself.  The monitor beside Sam beeped.  He turned another page.  “More construction, Tyler.  Do you like construction?  Let’s see.  Here’s an article on the astronauts.  Doing dumb things up in space.  That’s your level, isn’t it?  Futuristic.”  He snorted, and began to read.

No response from Sam, but Gene’s voice droned steadily on, adding remarks, trying to quip, trying to keep in touch, keep Sam from dying, the way he always tried to keep his men, his 125 family alive.

The beeping continued, but Gene finished.  “Hang in there, Tyler.”  He gave him a slap on the knee, left it there a moment.  “Wake up soon.”

He refolded the paper, left it on the seat, and exited the room.

Notes: This fic takes place after the last episode, but gleefully ignores the series ending. Sam has decided to stay in 1973. Annie has been promoted to Detective. Chronologically, this is the second story in a potential series, but I am writing it first because that's just what my muse commanded of me. Chris is my favorite chew toy victim, so of course this is going to be all about him.
