linkyI'm 12 episodes into Gaim and this show has been an experience I haven't really had yet while watching Toku these past four years... I've felt next to nothing one way or the other about it? I am entertained, and the plot is starting to kick up for me now at least now that the shoe has dropped. I haven't even gotten attached to any characters yet... I didn’t even have this problem with Gavv because Suga shows up so early on!
Normally there would be a character I am crazy about by now, but so far... Nothing. I do like Oren, Takatora, Kouta and Michi but I am not having brainworms about them or anything. Yet?? I am hoping this is just a slow burn for me. I'm having a better watching experience than I did with Gavv or Sukeban Deka III, but feeling so little about something isn't very fun to go through.
In comparison, I am absolutely charmed by both Gavan Infinity and Omegahorn. Kiki and Koto have made their way into my heart, I need a show just about them!! And I really love both Setsuna and Reiji too. With Omegahorn I love Enkaku, Giriko, and Shout. I've only seen four episodes of Infinity and I need to see the second episode of Omegahorn, but I'm glad what has been taking Sentai's place during its hiatus has been very fun for me so far.
But yeah, I really hope my feelings about Gaim improve. I have multiple friends who love it (and those who don't!) and I'd rather feel something. Preferably something positive, than be a blank slate about it all. It's not fun.

Date: 2026-08-04 06:31 am (UTC)I totally get how it's a drag to get through a long show that's just kind of okay, especially one reputed to be polarizing and divisive! I'm about to finish a show (Kidou Keiji Jiban) where I mostly have that kind of reaction and am getting through it by studying its formal or technical elements (costume design, recurrent tropes and the Japanese dialogue).

Date: 2026-08-04 02:21 pm (UTC)I was curious to see where I'd fall with gaim because of how divisive it is! I will take just having an okay time over a bad one, it is just a little bit of a bummer I'm so "meh It's alright" about it. With Gavv it was a very rocky start and I didn't really get its hype despite wanting to give it a fair shake, had some moments in the first cour I did enjoy, but then it got to a point very quickly where I hated the show.
I will take whatever I am going through with Gaim over that. I still am entertained too and am waiting for Mitchy to crash out eventually. XD As well as see how we reach certain plot beats I am vaguely aware about. Hopefully things improve but if the show is just an "okay" show for me, it is what it is.

Date: 2026-08-04 02:25 pm (UTC)I'm entertained by Gaim though, especially now that the plot has truly begun, despite feeling so neutral about it so I'll keep watching it. I also want to see how certain things I do know about happen. (Like Mitchy's legendary crashout era that has given him a reputation in the fandom.)
Gavan Infinity is so fun!!! I'm excited to get to Raiya when I do as well. Already I'm so charmed by both it and Omegahorn. :D
