Time for a random plug, since I don't do anything else with this journal.
I've recently started using Hiveminder to keep track of things I need to do on a hobby project of mine. It's actually been really useful. Granted, I am a bit biased -- I know some of the people at Best Practical.
Anyways, if you want or need something to help you keep track of things that need doing, check it out.
I've expanded my playlist at work, finding that a latin beat keeps my mind moving. So I find myself listening to a lot of Gloria Estefan, and some Shakira. Currently at the top of my favorites list is Gloria's album Destiny. One of my favorites from that album (which I really enjoy all of) is this one.

If you haven't read any of the Callahan stories, you should. It's some of the best stuff I've ever read. Start with Callahan's Crosstime Saloon, or The Callahan Chronicles; the latter fully contains the former.
With hunt over, and me back on something closer to my normal sleep cycle, the job hunt begins again. As I ponder the future, I'm considering leaving Boston. If I do leave, I'll miss the institute, and more specifically THiRD EAst, but there's always zephyr. Question is, where to go? I can try Microsoft again, thinking about that. There's also the idea of working in the DC area, which is getting more and more appealing, though it's a slow process to get the kind of job I'm interested in there. I'll poke around here some more, poke around there some more, get some resumes out, and see what happens. I have a vision of one possible future, and I'm trying to go after it, but I've gotta make sure I stay open to other possiblities. First priority is a job with which I can pay the rent. At least I have some cash to sit on, so I don't have to panic just yet.
The mystery hunt is over. Setec Astronomy found the coin after 68h23m. Damn that was a long hunt. It was fun to help write and run, and I learned some more mysql and php making hunt status pages at Hunt HQ. Now to get back onto a normal sleep schedule and resume the job search thing. Next question: will I be here for next year's hunt?
All my traveling is done. Had lots of fun this last trip... sad to leave, but glad to be home now that people are back. Time to take some games, run to campus, and hang out with people. Yay.
Finally going back to Boston, and I'm quite ready for it. Had too many days at home with little to do but sit at the computer, try to IM friends, and as of late feel mostly ignored. If you think I'm talking about you, you may be right, but you're not alone... there's plenty. I can't wait to get back, scritch Smokey, and hang out on hall, where I can talk to people in person instead of talking one way into the ether that is the net. I suppose I should start packing.
After opening presents and going to Christmas mass, we went to lunch at a friend's house. Good eatin' and more presents. I got the extended edition of Two Towers, which presents me with a dilemma: do I go and get the extended edition of Fellowship, or do I keep waiting for some uber-collection to be released around the time of RotK? Ah, decisions, decisions.
My brother's going to NYC on Saturday with some friends, he'll be there for New Years, in Times Square and all... he should have a good time. I will celebrate the new year in Boston, probably with some other Tetazoans.
