Aren't you fed-up with garbage, full-of-shit sites where nobody actually communicates, such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and Twitter? Do you wish your old friends who've migrated to those sites would return to LiveJournal? The the_lj_revival community has been set up with that aim in mind, and you are invited to join it. If you are already on LiveJournal and still have a Facebook profile, and would like to see more people returning to LJ or setting up accounts here, we invite you to post a link to this community on your Facebook Timeline. If you would like to find out who is still using LiveJournal and make contact with those who are already here, you are invited to copy and paste the 'about me' questions on the profile page and post them with your answers to the community.

Hi, I'm new here and of course I have a question.

I live in Iceland and we only have a small fraction of the vitamins and supplint companies you have in the states, I was wondering if anyone could either share with me or point me in the right direction of a comparesant of these companies(esp. when comparing the quality of blue green algea) NOW vitamins, Solgar and solaray.

Thanks

Help with stomache ulsers please?

Hi, my name is Annette and I've just joined the community to learn more about how to help my partner with his health problems. It's not official yet but he seems to have all the signs of a stomache ulser or problem with his pancreas. It's been making him violently ill over the last few weeks and making him miss work. He's just had blood taken for tests and he'll be getting an ultrasound done on Thursday.Collapse )

OK, so I've rambled a bit I think so back to the point. I'm in the information gathering stage at the moment so I'm hoping for some pointers to information on how to deal with these sorts of problems and perhaps some gentler replacements for ciggies, beer and coffee to make the withdrawl period easier.

When did you know?

Anecdote: I went on a detox cleanse last week: I felt great! I'd been drinking coffee daily for seventeen years, and managed without it for over a week! (I relented today because I had to get the family up at an earlier than usual time) I'm hoping I can maintain this great health and uplifted spirits and kick away depression and nervous anxiety by continuing to eat tons more fresh fruit and vegetables.

Was it in school or was it when you were trying to recover from an illness or disease that you learned about healthful foods? I'm an immigrant, and have only recently started in earnest to buy organic fruits and vegetables and increase the # of vegetarian meals in my family's weekly menu. I was motivated by the passage in the House of Representatives of the National Food Labeling Uniformity bill. I figured that if Congress voted for states' rights for food labeling (e.g., listing known carcinogens or toxic additives on the label) to be pre-empted, and the food labels to be dumbed down by the Food and Drug Administration, at millions of dollars of extra cost to the FDA, it must be that every American who can read an English language food label is deemed capable of reading and understanding what's in the food sold in the supermarkets. I didn't attend school here, nor do they cover this sort of thing in citizenship classes, nor do I remember seeing any educational shows on the American broadcast channels leaking over my country's airwaves, so I'm curious: when did you learn about nutritional healing foods, and start turning away from the processed convenience foods? What prompted you to learn? Does the U.S. cover this in elementary and high school?

P.S. Isn't it funny that a political party will be all for states' rights and smaller government when its opposition party controls the House and the Senate? But when it gets to control the House and Senate it starts pre-empting states' rights and expanding government?

Is there anyone out there?

Hi. I'm new here and see that this community hasn't had posts in a little while so I'm hoping this is still an active group.

I have a number of chronic health problems that I am trying to manage as much as possible through diet. I will need some prescription medications and doctor monitoring for the rest of my life, but would really like to learn as much as possible about natural ways of healing, and hopefully be able to cut back on the supplements and medications I'm taking at some point.

My current diet is a vegan elimination diet to determine food intolerances. I have added back a number of foods successfully but am still somewhat limited, particularly in the spice and flavorings department. I'm aiming for 1400-1600 calories per day since I also have a need to lose some weight. I'd like to know how to optimize my nutrition keeping these considerations in mind.

Do you have any resources you could direct me to? Even if you don't please feel free to comment. Doing so will help me to get a sense for whether this continues to be an active community. Thanks.
