Huge day for tuna sandwich loving bird owners.
Disorienting and haunting. Just as you begin to make sense of things, it disintegrates in front of you. Time and memory are fragile and ruthless, mocking not only the characters, but the viewer as well. A roast chicken, a lost watch, a painting; the trivial and the meaningful twisted and intertwined in poignant and labyrinthine ways. Hopkins delivers, quite possibly, the performance of his career.
Starting a full rewatch of the series and boy does this one still hold up. The meta opening of the movie within a movie (within a movie?!) is amazing. De Palma has the audience in the de palmas of his hands the whole way through.
