Liked this well enough but the writing and direction is not it. Every shot (except maybe like, 2) is framed for the center with shallow focus and maybe a slow zoom thrown in. Underlit, boring and flat, it's only a detriment to what might otherwise have worked a lot better. The writing is shallow and any depth is mostly implied but when it's focused on Navarrette I was having a fine time.
Hard to imagine something more tailored to my taste. An instant favorite, films about spaces (and the routines and time within) always up my alley. Add in the touch of the surreal and you have something magical, dream-like, even at times delving into a beautiful and haunting gothic horror. I found this incredibly special, few films create a feeling quite like this. (I was reminded, of course, of Tsai, though I doubt he ever saw this obscure british release. Still, Goodbye, Dragon Inn quickly came to mind.)
