Emma Mackey has it. She has a knack for performing the kind of thoughtful, unpredictable, emotional gestures that illuminate all of Brooks’ work. She has terrific speed, a terrific presence, and a warm, enchanting smile. She is outstanding.
How can anyone hate this? How can someone totally reject the charm and intelligence? What is going on? What is happening?
Very safe and annoying film perfect for our present moment. Loved several performances, hated a few, but more than anything? End all acting improv. Unconstrained ad-libbing. Stop. We must do away with all the improv.
