let down by this on a many levels—as a burroughs adaptation, as "queer cinema," for its use of terrible slop cg exteriors and backgrounds (so bad that i have to wonder if the fx team is using generative ai? if so, what the fuck???). but most of all, i'm let down by the third act, which goes completely up it's own ass despite Leslie Manville's best efforts to lighten things up.

on the other hand, beautiful props, costumes, cigarette acting, and performances by Craig and Schwartzman in particular. that long oner of Craig shooting dope is undeniable.

Not only did I love the movie, but Matt Farley literally gave me a ride home after the screening in beautiful Lexington, Massachusetts this evening. Folks, you don't hear about Steven Spielberg giving people a ride home after his movies!
