this one is GROSS!!
i just don't feel very moved by lynch's frequent thematic exploration of misogyny. i feel like nothing is really ever said other than that it exists. "misogyny through the eyes of the misogynist" is just uncompelling to me personally. made worse by the manson cameo.
also i hate soundtrack and sound design of this film so much lol. the pingponging between super loud industrial music and super quiet dialogue made it intolerable. the constant drone was distracting to me more than setting an ambience.

some really well done stuff and then some really self-indulgent, irritating stuff. i like conner o'malley but i wish he wasn't in this - between him, fred durst, and phoebe bridgers, the cameos felt immensely distracting to the really great acting choices the leads were making.
i ultimately found this story fairly unfinished as well. owen's lowest point at the fun center party felt rushed, and the conclusion at its heels doesn't push anything (acceptance of identity, rejection of identity,…
