This isn’t a movie so much as it is a spreadsheet generated piece of content designed by Netflix to fill two hours. Why does it look so cheap, why does it feel cookie cutter assembled, why do they keep repeating the plot, why does it feel like just another churn of empty calories on Netflix’s content treadmill. Not entertainment, not cinema, just runtime. This movie exists solely so Netflix can say it exists and that about sums it up.
Really beautifully shot. Feels like a Terrence Malick film. There’s a quiet heaviness and depression that’s hard to articulate but impossible to shake. I think it’s cause the film constantly reminds you how small we are inside an indifferent world and Joel Edgerton carries this with a quiet masculinity in his performance. He does more in silence than most performances do with dialogue.
