This started off as an adorable romance, but somehow turned into a film about grief (again). I think I’ve had enough of that this week.

Ito Aoi’s long monologue stood out to me the most. The other two also had their own monologues, but Ito’s felt much more raw and heartbreaking. It was an incredible confession. I don’t think I’ve ever been so moved by someone’s confession before.

This caught me off guard. I did not expect that story at all. Looking at the poster, it was far from what I had been anticipating, and that’s the best way to experience this one.

The main charm of this film for me was the three actresses, who were so adorable the whole time. That alone would keep me watching whatever is on the plate. Bonus was the unique narration in exploring grief. This reminds me of The Parades in…

Mother answers back to Shoplifter's "Is giving birth automatically makes you a mother?" as it shows that despite how toxic the parental bond is, there are children who can't seem to cut out the affection they have towards their parents. Also, rather than Shoplifters, this one felt much closer to Koreeda's Nobody Knows which was also based on a true story.
