Great cast. Very cool and funny costumes and production design. Crazy maximalism and absurdism. Not everything worked for me but mad respect for Boots as an artist with a clear visual/stylistic/political/intellectual identity. Will always want to see what he does next.

Almost certainly Miyazaki’s best written and most poetic film. A love letter to the undefinable, glorious, and mysterious phenomenon of human creativity.
Perhaps no one knows more fully than Miyazaki the importance of hard work, inspiration and sacrifice that make such grand creative endeavors possible.
