Great movie. DuPont kinda sucks. Mark Ruffalo was great.

I didn’t enjoy my time watching this. Ethan Hawke was great and the score was interesting, but the whole thing reeks of self-indulgence. I didn’t really buy that this character was having such a crisis. The ending felt unearned and heavy handed.
This film hits. Stylistically it is just so spot on. It’s funny and sad and dramatic and everything all at once. Had the good fortune of seeing Sean baker at the VIFF screening Q&A. All in all, sick film from an awesome director.
Interesting film. People made it seem like this was the saddest film in the world. That being said, it is sad but I personally didn’t cry... and I was a mess in war horse. This film has moments that are shocking and unwatchable in the best ways. It starts potently and ends hard. It makes scenes that are seemingly ordinary feel like the climactic battle of an avengers film with the score sweeping in, and that score - Jesus. Very good. Like a horror film. One film I must watch again.
