An extremely low budget shot on video zombie skater splatter horror film that is really just a big love letter to the 80s punk scene in Gainesville, FL. Got to watch this with the director and a ton of the cast in attendance and it was a joy to hear people cheer when their friends were on screen or when their band’s music played. Q&A with everyone was super fun as well. They kind of just hung out and reminisced which was sweet to hear. Was a bit surreal seeing the theater I was watching this in appear in the background of one of the scenes.
While Voyeur started out strong, it dwindled quickly and became somewhat of a slog to get through. Following the aging reporter Gay Talese as he writes his book about a voyeur who spied on people in his hotel for years, Voyeur doesn’t’ really know what it wants to be. I was fascinated by the story at first, but soon after starting the documentary, I felt I had learned almost everything there was the know about the story. I could’ve learned…
So as far as I'm aware, no English translation of this exists, meaning I watched it in Danish and had no idea what was going on. It does feature a young Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, and his character had a Stranger Than Paradise poster on the wall, so that's cool I guess.
