I’m normally philosophically against logging tv on this app but gotta give a shout out to this one. Incredible story about being alive, obsession, about genius that drives you to an early grave. Completely transcends being a “climbing documentary” or anything of the sort. One of the better docs I’ve ever seen!

edit: dropping this down a half star thinking about it more. only saving grace here is some quality acting and some of Guillermo’s style. basically a character just says all the things the movie is about out loud because it thinks you’re a stupid phone hog. At one point someone says “you’re the monster, victor”. CGI bullshit abounds. When we will stop letting writers and directors treat us this way? Movies Are Bad Now

Radioactive detritus from the bombed out rubble of post-9/11 American Culture. Devoid of almost any redeeming qualities (the one shins song is legit great). Everything out of Natalie Portman’s mouth is nuclear grade cringe. Zach Braff is a charisma black hole. Somehow looks better than most post-COVID movies though
