I liked this film a lot, although parts of it didn't work for me.
It's beautiful, with a cryptic and allusive visual style, and striking images, some of which repeat throughout: the recurring shots of Beniamina and the red thread, flocks of birds in the sky. Ossuary artefacts abound. (Was it me or did the shot of the headless goddess being lifted by crane onto a container ship feel like a nod to the opening of La dolce vita?). I…
