“Thank you boys, thank you.”
Recently I saw a school play adaptation of this (yeah, I know), and it was somehow brilliant.
So I was very excited to the watch the film, and my god. The ending… how can I begin to explain it to someone who’s never seen it? With what happened to Williams in real life, that just makes it so much more impactful. I’m surprised this got away with a PG rating.
What I really love about…
Roberto Rossellini’s final and untalked about film starring his then wife Ingrid Bergman.
In reality, it’s a recording of her stage play as Joan of Arc. A musical mind you. Extremely weird, but that’s its redeeming quality. This is very unique and it gains its own points because of that.
And for the record, I prefer Bergman’s performance as Joan of Arc in this than her in the 1948 biopic.

Along with Jurassic Park, this is the film that forever cemented my childhood and love of movies onward.
I definitely know I was at least four when I watched this for the first time, but hell, I could’ve even been three! Definitely was watching some stuff while every other kid…

It seems to me that most reviews finds this film as hilariously whimsical and that “Gregory Peck is so hot, omfg!”, I feel I’m the only one who actually loves this as much as Scorsese?
This is the closet to an alternate universe of Peck being Max Cady from Cape Fear instead of Sam Bowden. Sure, he’s not as menacing as the film wants him to be, but he was great as a jealous unhinged lover-killer.
