Can't say I get the hype. I unfortunately was not really sold on the performances and I just found the screenplay and overall direction to just fall a bit flat to me. However, I did sit up in my seat when Andy Richter showed up.
An absolute delight. Really fascinating worldbuilding, whimsical without feeling completely cartoonish, and genuinely an enjoyable mystery!
I've been trying to find the vocabulary for the treatment of grief as a driving plot device and the film's really thoughtful framing of it—I think it makes the understanding of the feelings really accessible to kids, for example, but doesn't do it in a way that's talking down. I cried a lot...
