Looking around and giving a big thumbs down every time they say the R word (which was often!) so nobody thinks I approve
This movie was *dark* and *funny*, I loved it. I really appreciated the way the absurdity just kept ratcheting up but in a way that was logically consistent and furthered the plot or continued to build the world.
That first explosion, the paint dance, the Soylent Green monologue, the MMA women commenting that she “doesn’t look dead”…
Gilmore Girls brought me here. Early thoughts on the movie - much like how a symphony doesn’t need to be tuned to a particular frequency, so long as they are in tune to each other; not one actor in this was acting well, but they were all acting poorly to the same level, and were in tune with each other.
It’s campy and great, and not in a fully ironic way, but I would not recommend it to everyone unless I know they’re down for some schlock.
