Excuse my language, friends, but this movie can only be described as a complete and utter clusterfuck. The Dressmaker is simultaneously a romance, a mother-daughter drama, a physical comedy, a whodunnit murder mystery, and a revenge film.
The first 20 minutes or so are marked by lazy exposition and a plethora of one-note characters. Around an hour and a half through, the film takes a brazenly sadistic turn that completely shuts down the most interesting part of the movie. It…
