How to Be an Asshole and Almost Get What You Deserve but Still Win
Some really brilliant things here, almost made some interesting, salient points about American exceptionalism and white male audacity, but none of the characters had any interiority (maybe Gwyneth’s but that’s it) and the stakes were non-existent. Also Josh Safdie’s insistance that this film is about dreamers doing whatever it takes ruins any sense of irony that I wanted to read into it.
