"Torture gets him high as a kite! Rectal absorption works faster!"

Packed full of gibbing and gibbering and everything else you need in Japanese cyberpunk, though it's less frenzied than 964 Pinnochio and feels more directly inspired by Tetsuo the Iron Man but more in style rather than thematically. It's a different kind of violence and pain, I think it's a more accurate portrayal of how this massive intangible apparatus of evil is inflicting such immense suffering, a whirlwind of…

"Punishment Park. Described by the US Senate Subcommittee on Law and Order as a necessary training for the law officers and National Guard of the country in the control of those elements who seek the violent overthrow of the United States government and the means of providing a punitive deterrent for said subversive elements."

Punishment Park is the greatest mockumentary ever filmed and the singular best cultural product of the USA. This is "the Great American Movie" that Hollywood has…

Wow. Actually stunning, I forgot movies could be this good, what a relief genuinely. Performs way better as a horror movie than it should on paper--Nikki's unnatural movements, facial expressions, and intonation are phenomenal. Jumpscares are perfect, sometimes she's suddenly just there in your face, sometimes standing in the shadows--these are horror staples the film employs extremely gracefully--but sometimes its just sudden intense social discomfort, which can be even more unnerving. I thought the uncanny valley makeup would be responsible…

Fantastic adaptation of the loosely disparate source material which cuts out all the inherent cringe associated with collaborative writing done mainly by pre-teens. No "this is level 42069 of the backrooms its where the poo poo pee pee man lives and hes gonna get you" here, it actually turned out surprisingly solid plot-wise and with enough allegorical meat on its bones that it didn't feel like a waste of time. The shots of the various rooms themselves are the absolute…

Thank you Mom for helping bring this film to life, your translations from the original Russian have been helpful to thousands of people who watched it in so many languages. I'm sorry you didn't get any of the direct crediting you deserved for all your work, you gave up your biggest legacy and claim to fame so someone you loved could take your place in the history books. I love you and miss you every day, and I'm sorry I…

Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith

Contender for the best Star Wars film, was almost worth the decade of immense cultural presence and "everything is revenge of the sith theme -ification" of consumer goods. I don't want a jar jar binks flashlight or spoon man he was barely in this film. At least they didn't plaster Darth Maul's face over everything when this one came out.
