Ariyan Johnson was dynamite. You can just tell she’s a New York girl and it added so much to the film cause it oozes authenticity. So good and so funny and the first hour or so had me so invested. A black girl coming of age story set in classic Brooklyn is just good for the soul.

Found this as obnoxious & overwhelming as I found it deeply misogynistic, racist, & orientalist. It's the same imperialist logic you see in these movies over and over again.
