There’s a point in Hokum where the jump scares stop feeling like scares and start feeling like spam. Too many jump scares isn’t a number, it’s a feeling, and this one crosses the line early.

Every single one of Quentin’s films is a surreal masterpiece, in one form or another. Each one feels like something I had to have dreamt as opposed to seeing in movie form. This one is no exception. The off the wall detours this already off the wall film takes…just brilliant. Flying Lotus is a true jack-of-all-trades—director, musician, actor—and Ash showcases his eye for gorgeous visuals and ear for sound design.
