I actually wanted way more of the iterative uncanny set design and way less plot. I think the real aesthetic horror behind the backrooms is in their fundamental meaninglessness, anonymity, and collective unconsciousness. Funneling that into a very particular narrative around themes of trauma and memory works, I guess, if you had to pick something; but the liminality is lost for me as soon as you define the boundaries, and I think a lot of the potential here was suffocated
