The very first shot of Ezra Miller is UNCANNY and just feels like it was pulled from any one of his recent adventures.
Aside from Ezra’s quick scenes, which feel out of place since they are too infrequent to justify their existence, the rest of Daliland is standard biopic fare. Baby face fan meets one of the greats and not all is as it seems + drugs + fiery romance - ANY of Dali’s paintings = every biopic about an artist that you’ve seen before.
Cryptic sci-fi / heist thriller world building that starts off with an intriguing puzzle-box mystery quickly loses that momentum after a tedious structure that does little to make the sci-fi elements stand out. Performances are solid, but so little of their backstories or this world are truly explored which keeps the audience at a distance.
