One of the greatest films. There are moments of directorial vision here which are genuinely astounding in their level of creativity and precision; moments which would only be gags in clumsier hands are turned into moments of genuine emotional resonance, and YET RETAIN THEIR HUMOUR. A feat in every way. How the fuck?

The montage-ified two-dimensional choreography and gesture which is the heart of all cinema is refined here to a level so relentless that it plateaus and becomes constant light.

OR: I was glad when it kicked ass. But I was even gladder when it kicked heart.
