So I'm the odd one out again
But I just have to say, I really, truly and deeply loathe spoiler space. It's required usage has all but killed off my interest in talking about current episodes on lists. Hitting it in a post is like turning on a radio and hitting commercials or a pledge break; it's a huge turn off which makes me want to change the station instantly even though I have a reasonable expectation that if I put up briefly with a minor annoyance I may find something that will interest me afterwards. Also the constant alertness to what does and doesn't require it on various lists kills the initial rush of emotion that is usually required to make me post anything more than purely factual information to lists these days.
To that extent, spoiler notices in subject lines are better but still wouldn't be part of my ideal world, however I am willing compromise with my spoilerphobic friends on that one. . The same with cutaways -- I understand their social utility, but on days when my hands hurt enough that each mouse click is resented I really hate being forced to chose between reading what folks have to say and hurting more.

Type Away
I think most people can survive typos and can learn to move around spoilers - or lack of them.
still hard to keep my eyes shut until I read the HP book.
Re: Type Away
It's less of an issue for me here in LJ, although there is less of a desire to talk about it in this setting, too; LJ is a bit too public for me or something, and while friends locking is possible, it then narrows the field too much to be fun. If I'm going to be that directed in my audience I'd rather talk face to face or chat and get more direct feedback that other, less immediate forms permit.

You know what I really think is weird about the whole "You evil bitch, you spoiled me!" reactionary behavior is, I really do not get why people are reading the things they're reading if they're *that* sensitive to being spoiled. It's like having a conversation with someone who's allergic to the word "the." Every time you say "the," the person yelps and gets upset and says "you did it again! How dare you!" and then you're supposed to go back to the conversation again. My reaction to that is to just shut up. It's not worth it.

Too true!

It does make it incredibly hard. And I don't think that the folks who do that really understand how hard it is.

Exactly! I really wish that lists wouldn't do spoiler space. Either ban discussions of current and future eps completely, or say that they are fair game and let the spoilerphobes go web only or whatever until they feel they aren't in danger of being spoiled. While I might not join the lists that banned discussions of current things it would at least be a clear choice. As it stands right now I feel torn and taunted and just generally frustrated with list life.

And why I've stayed out of it completely.
