Writer's Block: Fearsome

The boogeyman, global thermonuclear war, being forced to eat broccoli—there's a lot to be afraid of when you're a kid. What was your biggest childhood fear?

Ursula from The Little Mermaid scared me so much I couldn't watch that movie for YEARS. Seriously. I like her now though. I have a little figurine of her on my desk (but sometimes I have to turn it away because it has a creepy grin). I also had to move her away from my Buddha because she was giving him bad vibes.
I used to be afraid to sleep by myself in the dark in a room. I thought something was in my closet or under my bed. I slept in the bed with my mom most of the time until I was in middle school. This was especially spooky during the times when we lived with my grandmother out in the middle of nowhere. When we lived in town, it wasn't such a big deal due to street lights and things. I still don't like to sleep with my feet hanging off the end of the bed (which is hard because I'm really tall!).
I was and still am the biggest baby when it comes to scary movies. The only ones I'm NOT scared of are zombie movies. Think of a scary movie and I've probably either seen it and had to sleep with a light on for two weeks after, or refused to watch it so that didn't happen.

As for now, the only thing I'm scared of, besides typical girly bug fears (and the previously mentioned horror movies), is dummies and puppets that are anthropomorphic. AKA things which look human but aren't. Chuckie definitely falls into this category. I can deal with mannequins if they don't have heads (although when Doctor Who had that episode where all the mannequins came to life and killed people, it really didn't help). Ventriloquist dummies are the worst things for me. Their creepy mouths and eyes... eesh. Also, Japanese puppet theater creeps me the fuck out; we watched a video for it once in my Lit class (we were reading a Japanese puppet play and the instructor wanted us to visualize it) and I sat in the back of the class cowering the whole time. Sesame Street doesn't freak me out because they are all like animals basically, not humans.
Oddly, clowns do not scare me (unless they are chainsaw-wielding clowns that chase you at haunted houses, of course).
