I'm kicking ass on the book list so far this year. I guess that it helps that there is nothing to watch on tv right now (although I did watch Little Mosque on the Prairie last night and ♥ it) and it's raining most nights like a mother trucker and I hate going out in the rain. I'm now reading A Painted House by John Grisham and I am really enjoying it.

Jason, my unemployed since August boyfriend/partner whatever you want to call him - landed a job last night. Thank God because I was seriously beginning to lose my mind. I mean it's nice sitting on unemployment for 5 months and getting $740 every 2 weeks but that's not the kind of money we're used to and let's face it - our mortgage is freaking ridiculous. He applied for a job that I told him about (which I will get into later, in a FO post) which was a tad bit beneath his experience and skill level and the company really wanted him, so they made him an offer that matched what he was looking for $$$ wise and made him a Director of Customer Support. So, now he's a director, which of course is awesome! And the new job is right across the street from our place practically so he can come home at lunch and let the terror out for a tinkle. She's going to be sad come Monday when her daddy isn't sitting on his ass with her all day. Which means I'll have to leave her out a couple of already chewed shoes to occupy her time. I really should have kennel trained her, but I like having someone bounding up to me at the end of a long day.

Oh, and it's snowing like nuts outside. I loves it!

I'm feeling some random posting coming on.

1. I got up excessively early this morning for a job interview with Custom House. I meet the manager at Smitty's and it went well, I think. It's hard to tell because it was so informal and I was so chatty, but he is setting me up with a 2nd interview next week or so.

2. I'm feeling good about the possibility of a new job. Then I can actually have posts with much more meaning in the future...haha.

It was such a beautiful day out today. The sun was bright and shiny and it felt more like spring than fall. The grass is so lush and green, I love it. We took Saidie for a walk and she was exhausted by the end of it. I talk way too much about that dog but I love her to pieces. She's adorable and everyone who sees her just loves her. She fell in a rather large puddle today after trying to fish out a leaf from it.

It's hard to believe when you turn on the national news and there is snow nearly everywhere in the east. I'm so glad that it never really snows here. I only miss it at Christmas.

Jason and I went and had breakfast, then I went to Michael's and bought a boatload of yarn and I'm going to get started on some scarves for my friend Pam and her 3 girls. I really need to move past scarves. I'm sick of knitting just scarves.

3. I just ate some tasty leftovers of a pork roast I made the other night with sweet potatoes and peas. So good.

And now another night of relaxing, watching movies and reading. I have to stop being so lame.

I'm going to make myself a mandarin martini. Or 2.

One should not watch Food Tv when they're hungry. Now I am starving, even though for lunch today I had a lunch out with my Manager and some others and I had a steak sandwich and a piece of cheesecake.

I think I may make some roasted red pepper dip and eat it with pretzels. I like to eat dip with pretzels because (I can pretend...) it is healthy. Or healthier.

I really like Alton Brown. I'm glad he's made it north of the border. :)

Saidie "quickest tongue in the west" Miller, had a tubal ligation yesterday. She's recovering quite well, I'm amazed. When I picked her up at the vet I had to sit in the waiting room for over an hour because the little monster's temperature was too low. I was nearly asleep when she was finally ready to go. I continued reading the book that is ruining my year's list. I have to get through it.

The Tongue was sad all night yesterday and lounged in front of the fire. She was doped to the max and needed many cuddles all night. Because she was 'napping', this was the perfect time for Pippa (our little cat) to come out and sniff her. Usually Saidie chases the cats into hiding, but to see the beast docile was an opportunity the kitties could not resist. Saidie didn't even move an inch while she was being sniffed and poked.

Well, the beast was back in action when I got home from work today. You'd never even suspect she was 'altered' or the least bit sickly.

I'm sure the other neighbour hood dogs will still think that she's a sweet piece of ass.

I've determined that my camera phone takes much better pictures in natural light. I really like this pic of Saidie, but the definition could be much clearer.

I need a new digi cam.

This code better work, or I am going to freak out.

So, my week of holidays is officially at the crux and here is what I have been able to cross off of my list so far.

* organize hall closet
* add shelves to coat and laundry closet
* go through and organize clothes
* eBay some shit
* set up a menu plan for the next month
* get Saidie's Hallowe'en costume
* meet Michelle for lunch okay, it was for dinner, but that should count. Mmm, sushi.
* call Les and Leona for lunch I IM'd. I'll call tonight perhaps.
* walk Saidie an hour + each day
* organize kitchen bookshelf
* clean out my car --- I'm 1/2 way there!
* go to French Beach I went to China Beach instead..... see below...
* drive up to Parksville/Coombs
* go see The Illusionist
* make French Onion soup tonight!
* apply for jobs 2 so far!

So, this morning I decided to get up and get cracking. After some much appreciated coffee, and after watching The View I headed out and bought Saidie a cute costume of a pumpkin at PetSmart. Yesterday, Jason and I went to Petcetra (which btw sucks) and they didn't have a bloody thing. I was going to Superstore, since I was out that way but it was unseasonably warm here today and I didn't want to leave Saidie in the car. We started driving towards French Beach and I missed the turn and I have never been to China Beach so I kept going the extra 10 kilometres. Now, this is on the same stretch of ocean obviously and I am very familiar with the terrain to French Beach so I expected the same of China Beach. I was a tad bit wrong.

It was more rainforest, and more of a 'hike' (a term that is used lightly in BC) to the beach and water. A few minutes in and I couldn't hear the surf, alongside seeing actual hikers with shoes and gear (and I'm in flip flops, carrying a big blanket to lie on, a jacket in case it gets too windy and a rambunctious dog) and I'm well aware I'm over my head. The trek down is about 15 minutes and is a slight slope and for the last 5 minutes or so is a step incline. Immediately, I know that the way up is going to be dreadful and I am (in a term I enjoy using) fucked.

The beach itself is gorgeous. Probably the nicest beach that I have been to on the island, next to Long Beach (which is gorgeous). Soft sand, clear ocean bed, nice surf. Saidie and I camp out, and then we play ball for a bit. She hates getting wet and is scared of the waves and noise. It's quite warm out today - about 24 degrees. After 30 minutes she's exhausted.

The walk up was fucking awful. I'm pretty sure that I haven't sweat like that in about 5 years. I had to stop 3 times because it was impossible to carry all of my stuff up with Saidie. At one point, I was sure I was going to have a heart attack.

So, what probably takes average hikers 25 minutes took me 35-40. And I forgot my inhaler and more water in the car. The dog slept the entire way home on her back snoring.

*************

I took some nice pics with my camera phone, but I have to figure out how to upload them. I'm pissed that my digital camera is dunzo.

Oy vey.

Yestersay, while on a walk with Saidie (well, more like a quick pee) I fell. It had rained, and was still raining and I was stupidly wearing flip flops and a dog was barking at her and she became scared and tried to bolt. She yanked me too hard and I slipped and fell on all fours scraping up my hands, smashing a toe and hip. I dropped her leash and she was running towards the (busy) street and I yelled at her and she stopped dead in her tracks. Thank God!

I, unfortunately was sore, bloody and covered in mud.

This morning I somehow whacked another toe in the shower and split it open.

It's been a rough couple of days. I can't wait for a full week off! Yay!

Oh, and my digital camera is dunzo. I'm pissed. I love Mondays.
