DW: 10: the doctor up

TV and a lack of sleep

I haven't been able to sleep normally, so the past two nights I've been living off Netflix instant watch. Of course it recommended a bunch of British shows. There are so many available now, it's lovely.

When I have been able to sleep, I've been having the funkiest dreams. Hopefully I can get the sleep thing sorted out tonight so I'm not late/tired leaving for Rochester tomorrow. Double header hockey!

Day 04 → Your favourite book

Day 01 → Your favourite song
Day 02 → Your favourite movie
Day 03 → Your favourite television programme

Day 04 → Your favourite book
I read a lot(though admittedly not as much as I used to), but I don't really have a stand-out favorite book. So I'll give favorite genres instead.

I adore historical fiction/non fiction. I have since I was younger; the "Dear America"/"My Name is America" series was my shit in middle school. I especially like war-survivor books- Night by Elie Wiesel, The Seamstress by Sara Tuve Bernstein. I really enjoy reading history from a personal side verses the usual stale of a textbook. I also love future-is-corrupt/end-of-the-world stories. Oryx and Crake is a good example of that.

Both Watership Down books have always been a favorite to re-read. And of course I love Harry Potter. Percy Jackson and the Olympians is a great series too.

I was at work tonight, and I must have accidentally bit my lip or something. It was gushing blood for 40 minutes(I'm not even exaggerating, I looked at the time on my tweets). John needed me to run to Staples and buy printer ink, and I thought it would be fine with me just holding a napkin on it. Then I looked in a mirror and realized half my teeth were covered with blood x__x It looked like I was gnawing on something bloody. Ewww. So I didn't end up going, as I didn't want to freak out the general public. Tomorrow we have a big training session, so I have to get up at 8. Blah.

And lastly: I am so excited for new episodes of "Survivors" in January! :D

Merry Christmas Eve~

Today I went shooopping. Picked up DWM 402, The Time Traveler's Almanac and The Doctor Trap, even though I'm poor >__>; I geeked out with the cashier over Doctor Who and Torchwood. I love when that happens <3 You rock, Borders guy!

I just watched the Survivors series finale...

This needs a fandom. How can the craptastic bone kickers have an active fandom, and not this? At least they've renewed it for a second series and I can find out wtf is going to happen.

In other news I'm pulling an all-nighter to get my sleep schedule back on track. I plan on watching Who and Metalocalypse and knitting.

I'll end with a meme from callistazm-

I blew off my lab today in favor of hanging out with Kassie-face. We ended up watching about 20 minutes of "Putting it Together", an episode of the IT crowd[3x01], the last episode of Never Mind the Buzzcocks[Kassie loves Josh Groban] and she pilfered my Torchwood books[Skypoint, Pack Animals and Almost Perfect]. After that, we went out to dinner with Everett at Jay's. He needed to pick up photos at Target, so we stopped there. Then we went to AC Moore because it's awesome. I got another set of knitting needles so I could re-start my scarf without totally giving up on the old one.

I had a floor meeting for closing for winter break, so I dropped them off at Kassie's old apartment and headed back to Photo House. Ended up knitting through the meeting, because I've sat through it 4 times now. Unplug stuff, shut windows, take out trash, heater set to 65. yadda yadda yadda. -__-

After that I had a nice chat with my mom. She said she will pay for a PSP sweatshirt if I order it for xmas :D It's cheaper if you order in quantities bigger than 1 though, so I'm going to try to get Jamie and Melissa to get ones too.

Then I downloaded and watched Survivors. I think there is only one episode left?

I wish there was a fandom for this so I could figure out a few things.

Time for bed!

So I saw a post in torch_wood the other day about John being a guest at a Torchwood convention in Chicago. I'm conflicted about getting my hopes up about going. Here's my thought process:

I'm going to keep it in the cards. It would be so great if I could go! And my birthday's around that time, maybe I can convince my parents to chip in some money. *crosses fingers*

I watched Survivors last night after my successful ipod operation. I wanted icons, but I can't find the LJ fandom[!]. I found one crappy community where only one person updates. And no icons whatsoever. wtf? Anyway, about episodes 2-4[spoilers~]:

Moral of the story: I think you guys should watch it. Maybe I'll share episodes :)

I watch too much TV

At work, bored out of my mind.

My one class of the day was canceled. I hope my professor isn't ill/dead, he's old and wasn't the one to send out the email. I worry. I ended up napping since I was up late watching shows.

2.5 hours to go, and then I have an hour to kill before a PSP info session at 8. I want food, but the Ritz closes at 7. I would go to Crossroads, but it's in the opposite direction of the info session, and it's really, really cold out. At 7 the windchill is supposed to be 13°, yikes.

I think I'm going to re-start my Who!scarf. I'm not that far, and I want to fix my adding-stitches issue[I'm up to 96; I'm supposed to have 70]. I saw some good tutorials online about it, so hopefully they'll help.
