Even for short jams it is very important to get good rest. Being exhausted is when mistakes can pile up fast. Putting in effort is great, but taking care of your needs helps you make a better game in the end - even if it is just a 2-day jam.

Hello! I tried looking around for this answer before posting but couldn't find anything. I just want to make sure I’m following the rules correctly. I know custom art isn’t allowed in the game itself, but am I allowed to use custom artwork on my itch.io page (such as a banner, background, or embed background)? Or does all visual content — including itch page art — need to be made only from Kenney/KayKit assets?
Thank you so much for clarifying! I am excited to start making a game!
Focusing on gameplay is definitely a great priority to have! You should be really proud of it; you did a great job! It was such an honor to compete against all these creative and talented people. The artwork is great by the way! Hope we get to compete again in future jams - I would love to see what you make next.
Oh hey it's you! I was hoping to see you again because I wanted to say one final Great Job! And thank you so much for everything! This jam was so amazing I definitely want to do more. (I'm just hoping other communities are as kind as this one). Either way I knew going into this jam that I would have a personal win since I made my first game. I'm really shocked to see you did not place higher. Your game actually felt so polished and fun to play. Thank you so much again and I hope to have the privilege to compete against you in the future!
I was really surprised by my score. With all the positive comments I had really high hopes for placing higher, but I am still really happy with my score. I guess with it being my first game jam I had no idea what to expect and I was guessing that the more ratings you have the better. I am kind of surprised to see games with 16-30 reviews on the top ranked games. Amazing job to everyone though!
It's a cool game but the tutorial was a bit hard to understand. There was a lot of information at once that was hard for me to remember. It's also a bit hard to read the text since it keeps jumping between lines when new text appears. I did really like the spinning mechanic and all the upgrades. I really liked this game! Good job!
I would love if you could rate my game: Project Helix. I'm 3 ratings away from reaching my goal and it would really help a lot! Thank you so much! Good luck with placement when ratings close!
Let's do it! I'm really trying to hit 70 ratings and I'm at 67 right now. Every rating helps a lot! Here is my game: Project Helix. I will check out your game right now! Good luck with your placement!
I really liked this game! I was originally going to do something with pinball but couldn't figure out how to fit the theme in a way I liked. It's cool how you did it! I really like the voice acting too! The only issue I had was that the ball was sometimes a bit hard to see. This was a fun game though! Great job!
If you still have time I would love if you could play and rate my game: Project Helix. I'm 4 reviews away from reaching my goal of 70 ratings! Thanks so much!
Congratulations on reaching 40 ratings! I would love if you could play and rate my game: Project Helix. I'm trying to get to 70 and I need 4 more ratings! Thank you!
Woah the art looks so good!! The music is amazing and I feel like the game is super well-polished. The only thing is I'm not really sure how the shop works. I buy a slot then it looks like it gets put on in game once I spin something? I also don't think my coins go down visually when I buy something because they stay stuck at whatever the value was when I enter the shop. I really liked this game though! Great job!
I will definitely check out your game right now! Good luck on getting to 60! I'm 4 away from getting 70. I would love if you could play and rate my game! Project Helix. Thank you so much!
This has been my first game jam and my first time making a full game. I started learning game development shortly before the jam was announced since I watched other game dev youtubers and thought I should give it a try. I have made some small technically playable games that were just meant to learn godot but they were not fun, not balanced, and had terrible dev art lol. By joining this jam, I hoped it would give me the motivation to fully complete a game. It definitely did and I'm super proud of it!
When I did make my game public, I only hoped to get at least one or two comments or plays since I was just another person who was their first time making a game. I would have never expected to get as many comments and ratings as I have now. All of the kind feedback on my game has felt so unreal and I have been loving every step of the journey.
When I went into this jam, I really hoped that I could win the best first game prize. However now that I have played over 100 other games and seen all the effort other people put in their games, it made me realize that the reason for a game jam is not to win but to be able to learn and challenge yourself. Now with this new definition I decided that I personally won since I was able to complete my first game! (Although I still am hoping for a good placement lol)
Seeing all of the other entries is also very intimidating but there are so many other first-time jammers or first game completed that it makes me thankful that Juniper decided to host this jam. Both for giving me the motivation to be able to finish something I created, and for giving other people the opportunity too. I have loved being a part of this community and as tired as I am, I am going to be sad when it's over. I guess the best thing to do is to make the most out of the time that's left! It also makes me happy to see that many other people are enjoying this experience as much as I am.
With the jam wrapping up I'm trying to rate as many games as possible and hope my game will reach my goal of 70+ ratings. Here is my game if anyone would like to play it after reading all of this: Project Helix. Thank you so much if you took the time to read or play my game! I'm wishing everyone the best of luck with their games!
Reminds me a lot of iron lung! This game is really fun, and I liked going around trying to figure out the codes. With the very first code I didn't know that I was supposed to just have one in the middle, so that took me a bit of time to figure out. Maybe having one more glyph in there could show that they are locational. Great game though, you did an amazing job!
Yeah, I realized a bit too late that the text was a bit hard to read. Maybe I should have put a different background behind the text boxes or something. This review helps a lot though! Thank you so much for putting the time to rate my game and leave this review! I might take a look back into my game if people say I should make it into a full game. I have a bunch more ideas for it but want to know if people would actually play the full thing lol. I'm really glad you enjoyed my game! Thank you again for this review and for rating! Good luck with the rest of the jam!
Good luck on reaching 100! I reached 100 yesterday so my new goal is 125+. Here is my game if you want to rate it: Project Helix. I will check out your game too! What's funny is my game is also a puzzle + mystery game. Thank you so much!
I really like the idea of a voice acted tutorial, but I felt like it was a lot of information at once and I couldn't listen to all of it since I was trying to click around to figure out what stuff does. I also heard that some words sounded cut off or repeated? Might be a me issue. However, I don't think the tutorial has negatively affected my experience of the game since I was able to easily figure out what things do.
I had a lot of fun playing this and I like the idea of having to manage your hamsters to make power but not run out of health. I wish this game was a little bit harder and longer since I had a lot of fun playing it! The pollutinator reminds me a lot of Doofenshmirtz from Phineas and Ferb lol. I could just imagine him saying "My new invention, the pollutinator, will pollute the whole tri-state area with the power of hamsters"
This is a good game! Great job on making this in a week and great job on the voice acting!
Edit: I'm review #100! Congrats on reaching this!! Very impressive!
Nice job reaching 150+ ratings! I just reached 104 yesterday so I'm hoping I can fit a bunch more in today! If you want to rate another game here is mine Project Helix. Thank you so much! Good luck with the rest of this jam!
It's so sad the jam is almost over. Would love if you were able to rate mine Project Helix. I already rated your game too! Good luck with the end of this jam!
13 hours left now! Getting very close!! If you still have time I would love if you could rate my game Project Helix. Thank you so much!
Hope you are not feeling too overwhelmed rating all these last-minute games lol. If you still have time I would love if you could play mine! Project Helix. Thank you so much and good luck!
