Environment

Simple Living High Thinking

ISKCON members are called to conscious, caring, and sustainable living that honors and respects the environment. In ISKCON temples and projects worldwide, an emphasis is placed on this holistic approach to humanity and the Earth. Vegetarianism is a key principle, alongside non-violence and compassion for all living things. Practicing these principles in everyday life includes making choices that reflect this philosophy.

Additionally, ISKCON has numerous farm projects worldwide that model and teach principles of sustainability, including the Govardhan Ecovillage, located outside of Mumbai, India, which is leading the way in sustainable tourism and spiritual intersection worldwide.

On a practical level, the ISKCON Environmental Initiative was created in 2020 to help ISKCON temples and projects find green, creative solutions to protect the environment and live more sustainably.
