I don't get it. I was talking with my SIL yesterday because her 8 year old neice added her as a friend on facebook. What the heck does an 8-year-old need a facebook account for? As if kids don't have enough screen time with video games, and TV shows, and whatever else, now they're getting FACEBOOK?
Seriously. Ethan asked for one about a year ago, to which I replied "no". And then I asked him why. The answer? Because some of his friends have it. Well, I don't know if their parents have the time to sit over their shoulder and watch them as they cruise the internet, or if they just don't care what kind of messed up shit their kids are going to run into out there, but I think he is way too young. Am I the only parent who feels like this?
Well, this is it! I leave tomorrow morning for sunny Puerto Plata with my sister and her best friend, who I've known since she was 5 :) It's going to be a lazy week with no work, no kids, no boyfriends, no cleaning, cooking, dishes, laundry - nothing but sleep and sun!
I am going to miss my boys....but mommy needs some me time :)
A linguistics professor was lecturing to his class one day.

A voice from the back of the room piped up, "Yeah right."
I wish I could just do things and get them out of the way. I always end up with a ton of things due at once, and I have to frantically work to get them all done in time. Yet, I always manage to get them all done, and they're well done to boot! I actually seem to put in less effort if I start too early because I think I have so much time to go back and fix things up, but I never do.
I promised myself that this semester I wouldn't leave everything till the last minute but I just can't seem to force myself to work on these things.
I think I need the pressure.
In other news, I made Tofu Parmigiana tonight for dinner and it was excellente! My kid is such a tofu nut, it's hilarious. He actually picked off the breaded part so he could just have the tofu. Go figure.
We're leaving in the morning for Toronto to spend Christmas with Evan's family. The car is almost packed and I am exhausted!! I am really looking forward to chilling out and not having 10 million things on my to do list.
Ethan has an ear infection :( My poor baby! You can when he's sick, he is so not himself and it doesn't happen often. It started with a fever on and off since Sunday and then he started complaining of ear pain, and sure enough - ear infection. So he's on antibiotics and I just hope he starts feeling better cause the poor kid is just miserable.
My faculty supervisor came to observe me teaching on Monday and it went really well! I feel so elated to be doing something I love and to find out that I'm actually good at it. Honestly, since I was four years old, I've wanted to be a teacher and I'm just amazed that it's actually happening. I love being up in front of the kids, and hearing the way they think and planning neat activities for them. It is challenging, and time consuming, but I love it. I really do.
I finally got through all my prep at a decent hour and I should go do dishes, finish that laundry, and whatever else but I'm going to act like a man and say SCREW IT and do what I want. I'm having a bubble bath.
What a relief. Full-time practicum starts on Monday, and I'm starting with teaching a math unit on time, money and temperature. So I'll probably be just as busy (or busier!) with lesson plans and marking and all that jazz but at least I don't have any more assignments, and school starts at 9am instead of classes at 8!
