Greetings! You can call me Inept. I do not have the same gender I had when I picked the name ineptshieldmaid, but I picked it for a reason, and also I remain, broadly speaking, inept.
This blog started as an import of an LJ blog when it was my key fannish blog. I ported much of my work to the AO3, and I moved much of my Yelling to Tumblr. I then disappeared from both for years on end, and didn't update this intro post at all.
If you are my Yuletide Santa: please find my Santa letter and any other thoughts regarding Yuletide under this tag.
Regarding Ratings and Content Advisories:
* I often use the AO3 ratings system, but not always
* I usually chose to use AO3 archive warnings, but not always
* I am likely likely to generously depoly additional tags (probably as per the A03)
* However, I am not a wizard or a mind-reader, and I cannot predict your personal triggers
I may at times deploy "no rating" or "chose not to use archive warnings", as per the AO3. So far, if I have felt moved to do so, the reasons have been any of:
- I did not feel that "underage" or not-underage was an adequate or appopropriate descriptor either for what the reader experiences or the legal status of the content.
- I did not feel that US rating scales were appropriate for the context
- I was happy with either or both of the above, but I cannot guarantee that my additional tags cover everything and this particular fandom seems quite reactive. If second-guessing whether the readership are going to yell at me for not tagging [background x] looks like fucking up my ability to post at all... well I'm either going to post to the AO3 marked "no warnings" or exclusively post here.
Broadly speaking, re content tags: I expect to use fewer of them than I did in the past. I may even add some tags, or additional context/summary, on DW, that I do not put on the AO3.
Content Advice: I am not a wizard:
I once said my content advisory policy was that I would always warn for age or power imbalance, and I have overwarned for it as a result. New policy. I am not a wizard or a mind-reader, I cannot predict your specific triggers.
I'm Fandom Old, please consider my previous works as your guide. Or if I am new in your fandom, do not read right now, wait a bit and ask a friend if they thought my contribution would be something you liked. I am an Old. I had a delightful time for many years in fandom with friends vetting "this seems my jam, but it might be my Worst Friend" choices for me. You are not required to read my work tonight, or ever.
Regarding the DW adult content advisory:
I am an adult. I am old enough to be your teacher (even if you are too old to be my child - I've taught plenty of adults!). This journal, and my fandom content in general, is not intended for minors.
I have set the entire journal to "viewer discretion advised". That means it is upon you to use your discretion to decide whether to keep reading. Given that I often disppear for years at a time, it is upon you to decide if you read or not.
