Someone in a buddhist comm asked if people thought that someday an AI could become enlightened, or if it would possible to be reborn as an AI or something like that. Thought you might like my answer.

"My last computer's already been reincarnated as a pissy salesperson downtown that I growled at once.

Personally, I'm still spreading electronic karma from another life I lived on a MUD I helped administer while known as Gipper the Archwizard of Quality.

Yep.*grin*"

[totally besides the point, but for the sharpies out there who might wonder, no, I wasn't a buddhist, and didn't know much, really, about it, back when I coded the "Bodhisattva Inn". Weird, huh?]

Infuriated, he made this:

Screech Help Find
<helpfindscreech@yahoo.com> to ...

Hello,

Please pass this on to everyone in your address book. This is a serious matter as well as a desperate attempt for information.

On July 1, 2006 Dustin Diamond, best known for his role as "Screech" on the television show Saved By The Bell, left from the Sunset Strip in Beverly Hills CA intoxicated, and obviously upset about the foreclosure on his home. Needless to say that was the last time anyone would see him. Screech's family is very worried and decided to reach out to people on the Internet for help. Keep this email moving, with any luck on his side he will be found.

It is still not too late. Please help us. If anyone any
where knows anything, please contact me at:
helpfindscreech@yahoo.com
I am including a picture of him.
All prayers are appreciated!!

If it was your child, you would want all the help you could get.

If you'd like to help us spam it out to all the clueless fucks in the world, try to get a new snopes entry, please email me at live~@~insaneninjahero~.~com and I'll forward it to you.

It could be fun! It'd be a kick to see this thing still floating around ten years from now.

Futhermucker

I suppose I should have realized.

It just never occurred to me to look.

Consider yourself friended. Yes, you. Reading this. You.

THERE IS NO ESCAPE FROM KISC!!! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! *

* - It probably isn't very difficult for you to escape me.

Once upon a time, there was a Wizard in the land known as Gipper. It was said that he had no bodily form, and he was greatly taunted to show himself, yet, lo, did he resist, and hide himself within the crackling void, along with many orcs who had been dropped there with him from bags sent there by naughty wizards using loopholes in the Great Code of Creation. Now, the one known as Gipper is rarely seen in the lands of Igor, and has almost passed into myth, and yet, now, at this time when he is perhaps almost forgotten by the Igorians, rumour has it that he has at last been glimpsed by mortal eyes, and an image comes at last out of the void of He and His mate. Still, nothing is seen of the orcs, only the occasional unsolicited voice announcing the evil Bogus Investment Opportunity or Freeboobies echoing from the void to evidence their continued marauding in the crackling inter-ether.

So, um, click the thumbs if you remember me and are still mildly curious.*grin*

Rod of Lordly Might

There's this web comic about an AD&D adventuring party called "The Order of the Stick" which is not only a fun read, but it has its amusing moments as well.

In the latest strip, Roy, the fearless leader, has used a gender-switch curse to disguise himself in order to escape assassins (who think he's the king of nowhere, but nevermind that). Belkar - the weaselly, slimey, backstabbing, self-serving rogue halfling - thinks that he's met himself a hot babe with weapons. Rawr.

But but but! I had to share the most recent strip, because...
Belkar uses the phrase, "Rod of Lordly Might"!!

Huh huh huh huh. Rod.

Sorry, I just had to share, because I've never heard anyone other than an Igorian use that particular turn of phrase.

Greetings, Igorians

Hey, just stumbled on this group a couple of days ago and thought I'd post to say hello. I confess to not recognizing most of the names here as most aren't as obvious as Sirinek. But, they could be mudnames and I just haven't been on in so long that I just don't know them.

Anyway, "Hello".

That's about it.
