12 July 2026 12:39 pmSowed some lamb's lettuce from the seed library, on the grounds that the sadly-deceased winter purslane had been such a success. We'll hope that the results are better than the total failure to germinate anything whatsoever from the chive seed! It's really not the right conditions for sowing anything, though. Only a couple of the dill seedlings are still barely alive, and I have given up and thrown the adult plants away in order to reclaim the compost, as they were clearly not going to survive long enough to set seed.
I have repotted the 'new' thyme along the lines that were so successful with the 'old' one, amputating a lot of the root ball and reducing the top to match. Again, the temperatures are rather stressful for attempting any such thing :-(
Sent a copy of my translated Dumas lyric as a comment to the author (not an option I've had with any of the others!), after deciding *not* to use the 'new' final couplet, on the balance of artistic merit. ( Read more... )
