i ended up doing 3 days of catching up on my AMAs, i could also do today's but i usually dont like doing them late at night AUDSAHDAH weirdly to say, though i am rubbing my hands to do OC yapping for day 17th

i managed to hunt down my ff.net account, sadly i do not remember the password nor the email i used ... my old password i had saved in my phone notes from literally over a decade is not the right email. with stupid ff.net needing to do a google captcha each damn time you try to log in or reset your password, its not worth it right now to go through my entire list of emails

and the problem is some of those emails got nuked by google because they were old and unused ... so if its trapped on an old email ... i may be able to figure out which one it is and what my password couldve been (cause i did not used a variety of passwords back then), i could get in and maybe see if i can swap it to a new one, but otherwise just gotta manually scrape out my old fics

edit: FUCKK IT IS ONE OF MY DELETED GMAILS ... at least i know which email it is now, theres only so many passwords i did

1. Books or movies?
Both? I had this conversation the other day on Fable with someone that I read multiple books at the same time because I tend to read in multiple formats - audio, ebook, physical book. I feel like movies are an extension of that kind of thing. D&D too I suppose. They're all stories in different formats. I think if it was going to be I could only have one or the other, it would be books. I am the man in that old Twilight Zone episode that makes it to the library and thinks 'time enough at last'.

2. Indoors or outdoors?
Indoors. Outdoors is too overstimulating. I can't do the grass or the bugs or the wind or the heat.

3. Morning person or night owl?
Night owl. Have been my entire life. This is very much the ADHD thing, but I know that my dad is also a night owl and I definitely picked it up from him when I was really really young.

4. Online messaging or physical letters?
Online for sure, but also every now and then, I love a written something. Like Christmas cards. I'm not going to write you a novel for Christmas, but I do like sending something physical.

5. Dragons or unicorns?
UNICORNS. Ever since I saw the movie Legend as a kid, I've been sold on unicorns.

AUGHHH picking just one is hard!!!!!!!!! i guess if i really had to choose a single one, it'd be Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint (the original translation, not the official english released one), mostly because i read that in literally ... like a week. 1.5 million words, insanely fixated to where i was reading it every waking moment i could, and losing hours of sleep to eating through it

it's hard to really summarize ORV aside from the fact it left a weirdly profound mark behind in me that is hard to put into proper words. ot3 on tumblr summarized it very well, even if the post is old and outdated now

AUGHU its a bit hard because i've had so many ocs over the years, and even made them when i was little (4-6), but i don't have any real concrete memories

my webkinz when i was a kid also had personalities too, so those were technically "ocs" i gave stories to (to play out while recording on my shitty nokia phone LOL, a few are still on youtube under an old ass account. no im not linking them sorry im too embarrassed UAHDUASDHSA i recorded those when i was like 7-10 or something)

my first real ... hm, like it's weird cause i can have two i can technically use:

my self insert for kingdom hearts who was based off me, but acted more like her own character
my bleach oc who truly was the first "oc" i remember in full because she's been documented on deviantart, tumblr, and toyhouse

in terms of my kingdom hearts self insert i remember very little since all that information is basically nuked (gone from deviantart, scattered through notebooks and sketchbooks otherwise. i used to handwrite fanfics). she was basically also some part of organization 13 because she was shipped with roxas, but had some weird half-heart BS going on. i dont remember much else. she didn't like axel (massive F to past me, he's awesome) but basically joined the whole sea-salt ice cream trio

my bleach oc has a lot more to her, and even my old tumblr rp blogs from her are archived. she's also missing a lot of art because i lost a lot of my art/writing when i was forced to deactivate my devart account, but commissioned art and pieces survived in some way or another. she was my first full foray into the whole 'make a fandom oc that blends into the universe', partially out of fear of the whole mary sue roasting era, partially because it was fun to me to blend them in (vaguely gesturing to sylvie, and even my previous main oc initally began as a bleach oc that i ruminated on how to make him fit in)

so yeah, resu is the one i'd truly consider my first oc for the criteria of her being her own character, having art commissioned, fics written (which reminds me i need to archive my fuckass old ff.net fics i wrote for her, but i do not remember my email...), and being more solid in my memory

This afternoon the smoke from the Canadian wild fires has made it Pittsburgh over 250 miles away. I'm asthmatic. I'm now tight chested and wheezy. I feel so bad for anyone in more of a direct line of these fires and the smoke.

It's been a wild ride of a day. I had to go back to the dealership because their car dude forgot Ohio had front plates and they didn't give it to me (and I didn't notice). While I was over there Mom and I went to this branch of Wesbanco to put my money in a moneymarket to earn interest. Only its .05 apr. WTF?!? No thanks. It's not worth changing everything for that. She agreed. Why do you even have something that sad?

From there it was off to Primanti Brothers for yummy sandwiches and the off to the casino Mom and I went.

Was losing. Found a samurai themed one, lost another ten bucks, hit the free spin bonus, tons of wilds, long story short, I won nearly 700$. Woo hoo!

Wheezing my way thru the happy dance.

I wonder if Twin XL beds and related linens would be more common/popular if they were advertised as Half-Kings. Because, near as I can tell, they're literally the full length and half the width of a standard king sized bed/mattress. Push two of those suckers together, boom! King sized mattress you can fold like a sandwich or a hotdog bun.

This week's Minimum and Medium moods are: Angry, Awake, Confused

This week's Maximum moods are: Full, Relieved, Crazy

Full seems like a reasonably easy one, especially if you're working from a canon that has food scenes. It pairs well with Hungry and Thirsty, really! Relieved, on the other hand, might need to be more context-heavy; I've relied on characters sighing and wiping away sweat, but depending on what you're working with, you may need to pull something from a near escape or a close shave. Crazy is... a complicated mood! Particularly politically. I tend to rely on tin hats and pinboards with articles and string, though spiral eyes are also a quick and easy go-to for this mood.

What do you think? Have you got this week's moods nailed down, or do you need to talk them over some? Do you, like me, have complicated feelings about some moods, and if so, how do you deal with them? And while I'm at it, how did your break go? Let's talk about it!

Well, it all started with a comment on one of my fics on AO3 that quoted “Take me Home Country Roads,” where I then jokingly threatened to write a fic where S&R had to go to WV. So then, I was scrolling Tumblr when I saw a photo of a bedroom similar to the one described in this story. And then I started thinking about the time I visited WV myself. And Mothman (no, not visiting Mothman, just thinking about him). Oh yeah, and the time there was no room at the inn on another trip. Kind of an amalgam of many trips I took in my youth. You should probably be afraid to read this story, come to think of it.

1. Another day of Canadian wildfire smoke. A brownish orange haze has descended over the city and yes, the air smells like a campfire. Not bad enough to entail a shower - also I wasn't out in it that long - about ten minutes tops at one time.

According to ABC news this morning, there are more than 839 wild fires in Canada at the moment. And the smoke has flooded into the northern US, specifically the states of Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Delaware, Rhode Island...and parts of Massachusetts.

Told my brother about how my workplace's "Ethics course" had an odd ethics question.

ME: So, Crazy Org had the following question on it's ethics course: "An employee who loves the arts, has begun selling individually framed AI generated art via TikTock. And has decided to use the agency's shipping labels to ship it. Can she do that?"
Brother: So AI is generating the ethics questions for an ethics course? That tracks. LOL!

That hadn't occurred to me - but it actually explains a lot of the questions and the audio. The irony...

It's a critical thinking crisis. And a lack of common sense. They can't think critically, they can't analyze, they can't see themes, or understand consequences.

There are a few on streaming..."How to Make a Killing" featuring Glenn Powell (the new hot leading man of the moment - he looks a lot like Bill Pullman) - which is actually a remake of Kind Hearts and Coronets - starring Alec Guiness (where Guiness played all the parts). (I've seen the Guiness film, just can't remember it except vaguely). Also two series, "Ride or Die" starring the female lead from Ted Lasso and Octavia Butler as best friends, the Ted Lasso female lead is an assassin. And "Lucky" starring Ana Taylor-Joy, Annette Being, Timothy Olyphant, among others.

I need to get myself out and to a movie in a movie theater. It's admittedly cheaper than live theater, although pricier than it used to be (also modern audiences are annoying?). Although I need to do that too. Time was I saw at least two-three theater productions a year. But the rising cost of Broadway shows is preventing that (along with annoying audiences). How to Fix the Broadway Financial Crisis. Part of the problem is it is too geared to the tourist crowd and not enough to residents. You can get cheaper tickets, but it requires patience, speed and being resourceful.

I picked up a book on Kindle Unlimited and may buy at a later point, depending on whether I like it on KU. The author's published just dropped her after green-lighting a two book deal because she wasn't selling well.
It's a romancefantasy (so I'm on the fence? I prefer fantasy/mystery or sci-fantasy, with a little romance but not as the central focus.)

Here it is This Monster of Mine.

My difficulty is it is yet another romance fantasy featuring an 18 year old.

It is a hybrid though? A romance/fantasy/mystery about lawyers in ancient Rome.

Anyhow, I'm enjoying The Queen's Thief - mainly because the lead character is crafty and smart, and has a dry wit. The story is told in the perspective of the thief, who is a clever strategist.
It's also an intricate mystery - emphasis on mystery/fantasy not romance.

Also have completed Street of the Five Moons on audio, and moved on to Silhouette in Scarlet - which in some respects is better, but also quite similar. ( Read more... )

16. It’s World Snake Day – do you ever see snakes where you live? Have you ever held one?

No. I live in a residential area within a city, and the only snakes are in museums or pet stores. I did see a yellow python once. Let's see if I can find a picture of it. (And no, I didn't touch or hold it, nor have I nor do I particularly want to? I'm not afraid of them? I just have a healthy respect for not being in close proximity to one of them?)

Found the yellow python - which is the last snake that I've seen up close and personal. Clearly that man's pet and performance art piece.

i gotta get back to my asks ive gotten but ive been in absolute brain goop these last few days ... even now i feel like sludge. to be fair part of it was staying up till 3am playing ffxiv with a friend to get her back in the swing of things, part of it is just ... a general ... sapped energy in these last few days (part of my bird is breaking my sleep at stupid hours like 7am)

maybe its in part me fixating on stuff so it silly straws away my energy, in part doing job hunting and resume updating, in part juggling other things ... sighs. man i need a week to do fuck-all nothing if i could. or just two days maybe to let myself indulge in fun things and not worry abt jobs, or book stuff, or organizing things (as much as it is soothing to me)

I got up this morning and went out to feed the llama and found that she hadn't moseyed on over to her comfortable dry bed of wood shavings in the miniature barn but was down on a grass trail, in a sleeping position with her eyes open. She was already stiff as a board. Off to that Undiscovered Country, entering what dreams may come, eyes wide open.

I sent an email to llama guy and he came by with a trailer and a large sled a few hours later. (Free wine glasses with every certified stiff!) She was a bit heavy, I think about 150 kg at least, but a bit of rolling, pushing and sliding and she was on her way. it is better to be happy / for a moment / and be burned up with beauty / than to live a long time / and be bored all the while

I went back to the feed store and returned the bag of chow I'd purchased yesterday.

Investigators have identified shredded iceberg lettuce supplied to Taco Bell restaurants by Taylor Farms as a potential source of contamination in the outbreak of a parasitic illness that has sickened thousands in the United States, according to two individuals familiar with the investigation.

The two spoke on the condition of anonymity to share details of the ongoing investigation.

Officials from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said this week that they have identified a likely link among cyclosporiasis cases in four states — Michigan, Ohio, West Virginia and Kentucky — marking the agency’s clearest public indication yet that many of the illnesses are connected to a common source. A top official from the Food and Drug Administration said earlier this week that its investigation involves multiple produce items, including lettuce.

“The signal we have gotten is that there is a very high percentage of people who got sick at Taco Bell, and when investigators asked what their menu items were in common, lettuce came up frequently,” said one of the individuals. When the FDA asked the company where they sourced the lettuce from, it was Taylor Farms, not just for the Taco Bell stores in Michigan but also for restaurants in the three other states, the person said.
