Are you fed-up with garbage, full-of-shit sites where nobody actually communicates, such as Facebook, Instagram and Tumblr? Do you wish your old friends who've migrated to those sites would return to LiveJournal? The the_lj_revival community has been set up with that aim in mind, and you are invited to join it. If you are already on LiveJournal and still have a Facebook profile, and would like to see more people returning to LJ or setting up accounts here, we invite you to post a link to this community on your Facebook Timeline. If you would like to find out who is still using LiveJournal and make contact with those who are already here, you are invited to copy and paste the 'about me' questions on the profile page and post them with your answers to the community.

does anyone have any recommendations for places that do private-room karaoke? my preference is for the availability of larger rooms, plentiful parking (both very important) and BYOB (not necessary, but a plus). obviously, being affordable is another huge preference! a place within baltimore city would be ideal, but I'd be willing to travel a bit for the right place.

thanks in advance for your help!

help! i need to make a huge mask!

My roommate is a betting man and one of his friends lost a recent bet, so he has to make a costume for that guy to wear to a baseball game. The costume is based on the mets guy (mr.  mets) and i told him i might be able to help with the construction of the head part, but i'm not really sure what would work best. does anyone have any ideas about how to best make the mask/head gear part of this costume so it's big and round like mr. mets? picture below of how it is supposed to look.

any ideas on how to make a big, hollow, round head for someone to wear?

Location ideas?

I'm trying to do a wedding on a budget. (Big surprise! Aren't most people?)

I've figured out that we could have the reception at a restaurant that will please the parents and yet not be cookie cutter. Most of the restaurants in the area charge a very minimal fee for the space, since it is guaranteed business.

However, I'm stumped as to the ceremony location. My FH is not about eloping, and I'm so not wanting a church wedding. I thought of museums, but it's thousands just to get in the door, let alone all of the extras they charge for. Sigh.

I was hoping that I could get some non-traditional, but parent-friendly ideas. Also, parks and beaches are out, as my FH is fearful of rain, so an indoor place (or outdoor place with a rain plan) that could fit 100 people would be awesome. Am I reaching for the stars?

I don't think I use this space enough, but there's something I really feel the need to share for very personal reasons. first, I want to start with an important message from planned parenthood - you may know much or even all of this stuff already, and if so, please pass it onto others, in case they don't.

Top Three Ways to Love Your Cervix
(or the Cervix of Someone You Love)

1. Get a Pap test. I know, I know, this seems obvious. But think about it: When WAS your last Pap test? Start taking care of it this very moment. It couldn't be more important, and Planned Parenthood couldn't make it easier for you to find your nearest health center and make an appointment. Please don't put it off; you owe yourself a Pap and a cervical cancer screening at least once a year: Make your appointment now.

2. Get the HPV vaccine. You may have heard about this one in the news — well, now it's time to take advantage of it. Protect yourself from the types of human papilloma virus (HPV) responsible for 70 percent of all cervical cancer cases, not to mention genital warts. Check out these YouTube videos to learn more about your cervix, HPV, and the HPV vaccine.

3. Have safer sex. Okay, duh. But seriously, when I say safer, I mean using protection every time. Add HPV and cervical cancer to the long list of reasons why safer sex is sexier sex, and remember: your cervix cannot protect you, so please protect your cervix. Find out more about protection and safer sex here.

Did I mention making your appointment — now?

Happy National Cervical Cancer Screening Month!

I encourage anyone with information regarding gynocological health to respond by listing links and other info. also, feel free in the future to give such information freely - if it helps encourage even one person to go to the doctor to get their goods checked, it's worth the time!

silver money clip

so for valentine's day, i want to get my boyfriend a sterling silver money clip, and i'd like to get it engraved.

most of the money clips i've seen look so plain! i want to find something with a little character...i'm thinking either an original piece of art done by a metal artist, or an antique/vintage piece.

can anyone suggest some places i might go to look for this?

also, what's a good place to get a custom engraving (and by "custom," i mean i want his initials engraved exactly the way he writes them)?

thanks in advance for your suggestions!
