The 2010s

10 years ago Tricia and I celebrated the beginning of the 2010s in Seoul, South Korea as English Teachers exploring the world. Back then, I wouldn’t have imagined that we would have spent most of the decade in Edmonton. Goes to show how unpredictable the future can be!
What a decade it’s been! Travelled to China and Vietnam, ended our time in Korea and moved back to Canada, spent a bit of time in Toronto, got grown up jobs in Edmonton, got married, had a honeymoon in India, and got a house. Also had some other fun adventures in Bermuda, the west coast, and Arizona along the way.
Experienced the joy of having the delightful and ever energetic Sabine join us in the world and the saddest and most difficult time in our lives with our pregnancy losses. But we managed to have our rainbow baby Dava whose smile and chill attitude made the difficult journey for her arrival to be all worth it.
For me, I felt grateful to achieve my dream job of working in the Alberta Public Service, that has truly been awesome every step of the way. Alberta has also been a good home to me, have enjoyed all of the great hikes in the rocky mountains, learning to downhill ski, and discovering what a cool city Edmonton is.
At the beginning of the decade, I had no idea where we would be, but I am grateful for how it has all turned out. For the next decade, I wish for personal stability and a better world for us all, but that is never a given in this unpredictable world.
Wishing you all a Happy new year, and hope the 2020s is awesome for you!
