I'm quite drunk so excuse the typos, I just thought some of you might be interested in how my date went.
It was nice. Wish I could say more than that but that's just what it was. We went to an Italian Restuarant for our meal and we talked a lot about each other, writing and pretty much everything. It was nice, but there was just no 'spark'. You know how when you're with somone and you just know there's supposed to be something between you. I had nothing like that with James.
He's a really sweet guy and I would really honestly love to be friends with him. There was just nothing more than that between us. I have a feeling he may have romantic feelings for me but I just don't feel anything in return. Being with him tonight was like being with one of my friends. I dunno, I just can't even imagine taking things further. We got into some really deep discussions but he didn't make me laugh which I find very important in a relationship.
Anyway, I'm seeing him again on Tuesday and I'm going to have to make it clear I just want us to be friends. Looks like it's back to the drawing board for me. *sigh*
My whole list (because I was curious). Gah, can't believe I'm
You are Richard, Anita's ex-fiancee. She kinda left you after she saw you eat someone. Despite the whole "eating someone" thing, you're a pretty nice guy: teacher, philanthropist, outdoorsy, and all around good-guy. However your boy-scout principles can get you and the people you're supposed to protect in trouble.
Everyone else seems to be doing this so I thought I'd jump in
1. Your favorite *non-fiction* book. Wild Swans by Jung Chan. Loved it to bits, it was fascinating. I couldn't put it down
2. Your favorite children's book (from the age when you were being read to, or just beginning to read.) My Dad read The Hobbit to me when I was a wee bairn. Not exactly a childrens book but it's one of my most vivid childhood memories
3. Your favorite book as a young adult (define "young adult" as you will.) Hmm...Primary School it was anything by Enid Blyton. Secondary school I turned into a Stephen King buff.
4. Your favorite fantasy author. Laurell K. Hamilton at the moment. Have got back into Narcissus now and have managed to get past the issues I had with it earlier..
5. A slashy book that you own. Ah, dear Poppy Z. Brite. Um...all her books and most of her short stories are total slash. I love them to bits and she's still one of my fave modern writers.
1. Does my username suit me? 2. Is my journal's title cryptic or descriptive? What do you think my journal's title means? 3. Does my journal expand your knowledge of me? 4. Do you think my bio describes me well? If there were no names given would you be able to guess who it was describing? 5. Which of my interests surprises you the least? 6. Which of my interests surprises you the most? 7. Which of my interests needs explaining? 8. How many of my friends' journals do you read on a regular basis? 9. How many of my friends are strangers to you? 10. Which of my userpics suits me best?
If her LJ is anything to go by then she's just recently had a baby and won't actually be reading this. Still, congrats on the birthday and on the little one :)
I was just talking about him last night. Dave and I were talking about the proposed new Superman film and I said Christopher Reeve would always be Superman as far as I was concerned. I was totally in love with him when I was a kid
There was a hole in the road and guess which idiot tripped in it? Me! Fell face first right in the middle of the road while there were cars. Thought I was going to get squished and quickly scrambled to safety. I have two grazed hands, a grazed knee and either a badly sprained right hand or a badly bruised right hand. It hurts either way. Decided to take the afternoon off because I was in pain and feeling crappy. I'm going to have a hot bath in a minute and then watch Pirates of the Caribbean while I eat chocolate and feel sorry for myself
My need for sleep has overcome my need for Johnny and Pirates. I'm going to have a nap for an hour or so and then watch more West Wing when Jacqui gets home
Well, my knee and left hand now only hurt if I forget I hurt them and put pressure on them. I can now hold things in my right hand without being in severe pain but now my whole right arm aches a lot
Ooh, and I have to decide whether to watch Lost or BSG. I had a dream about Sawyer last night so I think I'll go with Lost and save BSG for a marathon session at the weekend
I just downloaded the fabulous LJ client that I first encountered at drbillbongo's and it's very spiffy. Just thought I'd do a quick (and utterly pointless) post to play with it a bit
Despite going to bed early last night I'm still quite tired. Hope I wake up a bit before my interview at 9:30
Weird thing is in all three interviews I'm the first one in. I think that's probably a good thing. Doesn't give me too much time to get worked up and stressed.
Didn't get the job from this mornings interview. Not really that surprised so it's not really too disappointing. Have requested feedback to see what I did wrong (although I have a fairly good idea already)
My Halloween fic is so close to being finished! If I didn't have to go to work tomorrow I'd probably have been able to finish it tonight. Ah well. It'll be finished tomorrow for sure (well, the first draft anyway. LOL)
A bit of an introvert, you like the special occasions just as much as everyone else. You just have your own unique way of celebrating Halloween.
No one quite understands you, but everyone also sort of worships you. And that's exactly how you like it.
Your inner child is curious, brainy, and maybe even a little gross.
You fear people taking advantage for you. You are always worried about protecting your own interests.
You're prone to be quite emotional and over dramatic. Deep down, you enjoy being scared out of your mind... even if you don't admit it.
You are a traditionalist with most aspects of your life. You like your Halloween costume to be basic, well made, and conventional enough to wear another year.
I go through spurts of friending lots of new people and bop_radar's Fandom Garden Party was the perfect opportunity to do that. I also friended a couple of people from my friends friends page
Greg has dropped out of tonights Marvel Ulitmate Alliance session. It would have been fun to play but at least this way I am guaranteed to get my Halloween fic finished. YAYZ!
Today is National Coming Out Day so I would like to extend massive hugs to all the gay, lesbian and bi people on my flist. Whether you be out of the closet or not I love you for who you are.
When you see this, post in your own journal with your favorite quote from The Princess Bride. Preferably not "As you wish" or the Inigo Montoya speech.
Inigo: Are the the Miracle Max who worked for the king all those years ago? Miracle Max: The king's stupid son fired me and thank you so much for bringing up such a painful memory. While you're at it why don't you give me a nice paper cut and then pour lemon juice on it. WE'RE CLOSED!
I hasten to add that I love every line of dialogue in this movie so I don't have a favorite. I just picked the first one that came into my head
I'm doing really well with my TV catch-up session. I've only got Supernatural and True Blood left to watch. I might even get it all done tonight, which leaves tomorrow for writing and icons
I'm pausing now for Strictly Come Dancing, Merlin and dinner though
When did I get hooked on Merlin? I'm all bouncy and squeeful about it
Maybe Merlin and Arthur are my muses but I am suddenly feeling the strong urge to write something. Not about them necessarily, I just want to write
God knows I've got plenty to work on. I've got my uber-crossover, my Snow White fic and an RPS bunny that popped into my head after I met Michael. Oh, and my Kal-El mpreg fic
Going into serious mode for a moment but I promise Chicon shenanigans tomorrow including videos of a lot of the J2M panel from today.
Random Acts is in need of a regional representative for the US. There is someone doing the job at the moment but she's moving into another role within the organisation so they need someone to take over.
I know I have an awesome and experienced flist so I thought I'd put it out there in case any of you want to apply.
You can find info here but if you want to know more let me know and I can probably put you in touch with with the person doing the job now (at the very least I am good friends with the UK rep and can put you in touch with her).
I've had a really great time hanging out with Lisa this weekend and when she wasn't hyperventilating about Mark Sheppard we talked a fair bit about Random Acts. There are exciting things coming.
And I want to second the request for new acts. You're a creative bunch and I know you can think of great things to do for this. Go here for more info
Jensen/Misha Reconciling Hollywood by qthelights Misha has always prided himself on his mastery of the first impression - both giving and receiving. After all, people are easy enough to read if examined through the appropriate lens. For the last two years he's stuck to his guns and his assumption that Jensen is just a good guy who made a dick mistake back when he thought Misha was disposable. Pushed him up against a trailer door and took because he could. But now, with Jared overseas with his new bride, Jensen around more than ever, and a decision weighing heavy on his conscience, Misha realizes that truly knowing Jensen might be nearly as impossible as knowing himself. Okay, I knew I was going to love this before I even read it because I love all of Q's fics. But it still blew me away. She always manages to write characters who feel so real and raw that sometimes I feel uncomfortable reading them - in a good way though. This was a fantastic read!
Dean/Castiel Aschenflügel by liadan14 Loosely based on Grimm’s Cinderella. Once upon a time, a merchant’s wife gave birth to a little boy named Castiel, who was perfect in all ways, right down to the beautiful black wings sprouting out of his back. However, in a country still fighting the phobia of human-to-animal shapeshifters, not everyone agrees, and when his mother dies, Castiel is left at the hands of his stepfather Zachariah, who doesn’t condone non-human traits despite being part-bird himself. And then there’s Dean, the only friend Castiel has in the world, who thinks Castiel’s wings are awesome, but is hiding a few problems of his own. I love a good fairy tale AU and this was wonderful. Not an exact re-telling of Cinderella and everyone is perfectly in character so you really understand why Castiel puts up with being treated the way he is. I loved it!
