Hi,

I am doing a survey for Free the Children (not for profit childrens organization headed by Marc and Craig Kielberger - children helping children). Looking into demographics of those who read self help materials or who would read them. This is to determind the launch of their new book Me to We to a certain demographic in the United States (I am from Canada, where the book is currently sold and on bestseller lists).

If you have a child (any age) or are female between the ages of 25-55 please take a few moments to complete the following survey:

So...I don't know how anyone found me for this community...I find it a tad bit creepy, but oh well.

I'm Fern...Fernanda. Class of 2005. I went to hackley from 6th to 9th grade, and then I moved to San Diego. I only know one Hackley person who has an lj, so I guess it's lovely to find this...maybe I know some of you? I know that at Hackley ljs aren't too popular, however.
If you started hackley after 9th and you're in my class, chances are, I know who you are. I get weekly updates on the Hackley gossip for sure.

I wasn't really involved in anything meaningful there...I left freshman year. I was in the Photo Club and the buy-a-cup-of-noodles-every-cold-day society. My favorite teacher was chuck edwards...lame, I know, and I ran track (never went to practice), swam and played field hockey.
I still keep in touch with every single one of my friends from the good old hilltop. If anyone cares or would try to remember me, hmmm...my best friend was and still is Hannah Motley...and I don't know what else to say.

Everyone should introduce themselves.

Welcome all!

Hey all... this is katharinec from '04..... just saying hi... uhm... my gap year is going great and i'm psyched for swarthmore next year... i'm planning on double majoring in computer science and philosophy once i get there with perhaps and additional minor in goodness knows what... history? astronomy? gender studies? religion? world domination? only time will tell. right now i have a volunteer job at orca media doing video editing... i also do odd jobs there and sometimes do interviews or what not for its tv shows... i also do computer skills tutoring.. i'm taking a modern middle eastern class... and i'm thoroughly enjoying and benefiting from some treatment up here in vermont for bipolar disorder... i'm also making new friends, exploring vermont, skiing, reading like whoa, getting to know the local music scene (we have a music series at orca.. and everything is so homey and friendly around here... concerts are inexpensive.. everyone seems to know everyone... etc), etc... During the summer I may get a job, get my own apartment and chill, hang out in vermont, take a summer session class at some university (uchicago would be my first choice as far as location.. but they don't have the courses i'm most interested in.. so at this point i'm thinking harvard, columbia, or nyu... but i'm not sure!), something else entirely, or some combination of the aforementioned. friend me if you want.. but i think i'm friended with most of you already.. pass the line along to any hackleans on lj that i'm not aware of.

oh... and check this shite out: http://ocw.mit.edu/index.html .... KICK ASS! you can get free access to the course materials of a plethora of mit classes.. you can do the course at your own pace and such.... i think i'm gonna tackle 21H.326 The Making of Russia in the Worlds of Byzantium, Mongolia, and Europe, Spring 1998 and 17.118J/Sp.412J/WMN.412J Feminist Political Thought, Fall 2000. If anyone is interested in doing them along with me... that would be awesome so I'd have someone to bounce ideas off of. Does anyone know of online forums/discussion boards for the individual classes?

peace out!
