Real love is forever

Long time, no post!

I thought it was high time I actually posted about my own wedding and try to revive this community in some way.

I have done a blog post detailing some of the suppliers we used here: http://gothicmoomin.wordpress.com/…

I thoroughly enjoyed the wedding planning process and I'm so happy that we have such wonderful photos to remind us of that special day.

I can't recommend our photographer enough.

I finally heard back from the site administrator a little while ago about my dress. You pretty much have to bring money into it to get a response from these people: to get questions about modifications answered, I had to tell them I was already planning to buy the dress (I was, but I'd have said it even if I wasn't, or I'd probably still be waiting for a reply.) And to get them to email me back with the receipt and the measurements form, I had to let them know that since I'd emailed them three times already with no reply I'd either be needing one very very fast, or I'd be needing a refund.
Surprise, surprise, I got an email from them later that day. I'm not really going to give them any more points for customer service, though, because right away they made a point of saying "We sent you an email soon after your purchase" and ....yeah. No. No, they didn't. I know, because I checked my inbox, my spam, and all my other folders just in case, and even searched all my mails using keywords like their name, wedding gown, etc and came up with nothing!
Anyway, I'm glad they at least deigned to finally respond to me. I haven't heard anything more about what's going on with my dress but I'm not overly concerned about that since I've heard the time from ordering your dress to receiving it can be between 4-6 months. But if it gets past April or May and I still haven't heard anything I guess I have to get into it with them again.

Thankfully, the rest of my plans are going just fine. If every vendor was like this I'd be about ready to shoot myself.

Has anyone here ordered a gown from gothicweddingdresses.webs.com?
I know someone here had requested samples from them and had quite a bit of lag time in between sending the request and receiving their samples (or didn't receive them at all), but like an idiot, I thought that an actual gown order paid in full would get a different (and timelier) response.
I sent them emails with questions about customizations before I ordered my gown and I always got a response within a couple days, which made me more confident ordering from them. I actually ordered my gown on 11/3, and their site says to expect a response within 24 hours. I waited a week, and sent them an email when I didn't get a response. Then I waited three more days, and sent them another email. Today I finally sent them a third email, and I'm hoping that someone actually gets around to answering it this time. The payment went through, so at this point I paid a few hundred dollars for...what?
If anyone else here has ordered from them, I would really like to know what your experience with this company was like after you had placed your order and paid for it.
More importantly, if I don't here a response, is there an online version of the better business bureau or someplace I can report their crappy service?

Please allow me to introduce myself...

Hello all, My name is Morgan and I'm new.

+Your age? 26

+ Your partner's age? 28

+ How long have you been together? Since October 31st, 2002

+ How long have you been engaged? Since January 3rd, 2009

+ When do you plan to get married? October 30th, 2010. We'd prefer Halloween itself, as it will be our 8 year anniversary, but we have far too many partiers to even think about having a party like this on a Sunday night.

+ What kind of wedding style are you planning on (Goth, Victorian, Medieval etc)?   Ecclectic, if you want the short answer.... We're having a costume ceremony and reception.  The guests are encouraged to wear costumes of their choice, or funeral attire (black formal wear).  The bridal party will be classing up the joint with 1940's-50's vintage gangster  and dames attire.  We're going for a budget ($5000), DIY (flowers, centerpieces, veil, dress, save-the-dates, table cards, etc.), vintage (as mentioned), Punk Rock, Heavy Metal, skull-laden (I have loved skulls since before they were part of pop-culture, and incorporated them into my shoes, centerpieces, cupcakes, and all stationary) extravaganza.
+ Church wedding or a civil wedding? Civil ceremony, outside, in upstate New York, in October.

I recently left the weddingplans community after much backlash and unacceptance of my non-cookie cutter wedding and views regarding weddings.  One of my friends reccommended me to this site (which I didn;t know existed until now) and I'm here knowing that I'll be much more accepted and happy while I finalize my plans for the big day.

For a quick recap, we're getting married in a Gazebo with minimal decor, in what I hope will be the worlds shortest legal ceremony.  Then we'll hop over to the firehall, and have a cocktail hour while our DJ spins classic horror film and movie theme songs.  Dinner is BBQ buffet (BBQ chicken, burgers, sausages, various salads), and dessert is cupcakes (chocolate with red-dyed frosting, vanilla with chocolate frosting, and red velvet with cream cheese frosting) which we'll cut with a giant butcher knife instead of a cake knife.  Then once we've got all the traditional boring stuff out of the way, we'll open up the dance floor and let our guests cut loose to mainly classic rock, with a few of our heavier favorites thrown in.  Then we're headed to Miami to board our cruise for our honeymoon.  We've never been on a cruise before, and are anticipating that our pastey selves will come back looking like lobsters. But it's all in the name of fun....

Thanks for reading.

gothicweddingdresses.webs.com - Part 2

I know some of you were interested in hearing how I got on in my attempts to obtain fabric samples from this website.

My fiancé and I got engaged in February and I ordered fabric samples at a cost of £5 a few days after. It's now June and there has been no sign of them. Over the course of that time, I have sent about a dozen e-mails querying their whereabouts.

My first couple of e-mails were ignored. I then submitted a request on the website for a phone call using a different e-mail address and stating it was a query over buying a dress in an attempt to trick them into speaking to me since the usual means weren't proving fruitful. I received a response within a couple of days. I then admitted that I was chasing up fabric samples and included the Paypal reference. I received a curt response back to say that these had been sent but they would send some more ASAP. The fact that they had done such a good job of ignoring me up to this point, I felt it was fairly likely I was being lied to about them being lost in the post which made me feel very uneasy. Who wants to deal with dishonest people?

Anyway, throughout all this I was friendly and polite. We were nearing the end of March at this point and the website stated that samples would be posted within 5 days.

Over Easter, I sent another e-mail to find out what was happening. Surprise, surprise there was no response.

About a month ago, my patience ran out and I sent another e-mail explaining how disappointed I was with their service and that I didn't think I was being unreasonable to want to have what I paid for months ago.

No response.

I felt really depressed about the whole thing. I really wanted a particular dress and I had spent hours scouring the internet trying to find another dress that I liked and not having any luck.

What has infuriated me, is that I simply cannot understand this attitude. I have never received an explanation and they've made it pretty clear that they don't value me as a customer and don't care about providing a good service.

I have otherwise been having a fantastic time planning the wedding. All the people I have contacted have been lovely to deal with and they've been friendly, enthusiastic and prompt when I've made enquiries. I really don't think there's any excuse for the complete lack of customer service this website has offered.

I'm sure a lot of people have had a good experience using them, but they've completely put me off now. There's no way I am going to give people like this my hard earned money and risk having the problems I've had just trying to obtain a few scraps of fabric!

I want to feel good about my wedding dress and the anxiety caused by fabric samples is just not on.

I have been lucky because I have found a dressmaker who not only responded to me within minutes, but will make my dress to my specifications, has offered me a really good price and I'm meeting her in a couple of weeks to discuss things and there's the added benefit of being able to go for fittings. It's important to me to be able to keep in contact with my dressmaker and work with someone that cares about the outcome.

Anyway, I just thought I would share my experience for anyone that has been thinking of getting their dress through this website. Obviously my experience might just be a one off and the rest of you might have better luck than I have!

Hello, I'm Lily. My betrothed, Stephen, and I just got engaged recently, and here I am!

+ Your age? 22 (25 by the time we marry)

+ Your partner's age? 23 (26 by the time we marry)

+ How long have you been together? Three years

+ How long have you been engaged? A few days:)

+ When do you plan to get married? Not until 2013. I know it's a while, but I'm terrible at planning so a long engagement is really necessary. 2011 would be too soon to save enough money, friends of ours are getting married in 2012 around the same time that we plan to and they were engaged first, so...2013 it is. Plus 13 is a lucky number for both of us. My sister and bridesmaids-to-be are pushing for me to have the wedding on Friday the 13th (in September or December...they actually looked it up!) and have 13 bridesmaids and 13 groomsmen. We'll see!

+ What kind of wedding style are you planning on (Goth, Victorian, Medieval etc)? We want it to be what we both like to think of as High Gothic. Not necessarily set in one time period (Victorian, etc) but with a dark and extravagant feel. Our colors are going to be black (yes, that goes for my dress) and royal to midnight blue. We want to have it at midnight, with candelabras everywhere, in a suitably Gothic venue...the goal is to have it look like Mana of Moi Dix Mois planned the thing. I had to reassure my beloved that he could, in fact, wear his creepers:)

+ Church wedding or a civil wedding? Church wedding, I suppose, since a cathedral would be a perfect location...the hard part would be finding one that doesn't adhere to (my former first choice) Grace Cathedral's strict rules, since we want something a little more Pagan. I actually work once a week at en extremely liberal, anything-goes church, so we were thinking of having the pastor there marry us...or if she can't do it, we'll have the friend who introduced us get ordained online, pop her into a cassock and have her marry us.
Stephen's family is Japanese-American and we plan to honeymoon in Japan, so we may also have a small, traditional Shinto ceremony there. He's very interested in traditional Japanese customs, so it would be perfect.

Edit: I should have seen this coming but it looks like ALL the cathedrals are rather strict about who gets married there and what type of wedding they have. So...I suppose it will be a civil ceremony in a suitable Gothic location. Anyone know of any Bay Area haunts that might work?

Hi everyone.

I'd really like to hear any of your experiences with the above website.

I ordered some fabric samples in February and the money was taken soon afterwards. I haven't had them yet. It took a long time to get a response by e-mail and when I did I was told that the samples had been sent but they would send some more ASAP. That was a couple of weeks ago now and still nothing. I sent another e-mail about a week ago and no reply yet.

The wedding isn't until October next year so I'm not in a huge hurry, but there's a particular dress that I have really fallen in love with, and the longer this goes on, the more nervous I get about trying to get this dress. The customer service isn't exactly blowing me away thus far.

I've looked around for reviews and have only come across positive comments which makes me feel even more frustrated by how difficult I'm finding just getting some samples.

I could understand if they're busy and have to prioritise making the dresses, but considering I paid for the samples nearly 2 months ago, I don't think it would be too difficult to put a few fabric samples in the post.
